I only allowed those who I knew had a steady partner (husband, wife, b/f, g/f) bring a 'guest'

We invited everyone with a guest. We were not about to decide who we felt was in a serious relationship and who wasn't. And we were lucky that we had the space and the money to give all of our guests this option.

i am inviting everyone and guest I want everyone to feel comfortable and have fun. Then it leaves them to decide if they want to bring someone. But I think you need to decide based on whether you can afford it and your room will hold the number

I have a lot of first cousine (32 to be exact), I only invited those over the age of 18. And then those who were not married or engaged were not invited with a guest. We are having a smallish wedding (150) and if I invited every relative - I could have easily invited 150 - 200 people. Thought my FI deserved to invite a few of his friends.

we could not invite every single person with a guest b/c of space limitations. my family & FH's family were more important to us than having random strangers at our wedding.
however, anyone that is seriously dating or engaged was definitely invited with a guest...

We're inviting everyone with a guest - didn't feel it was our place to judge whose relationship was serious and whose wasn't. Those who aren't in a serious relationship, usually wind up coming solo but appreciate the option. IMO, at least.

We are pretty much inviting everyone with a guest. I didn't want to invite some with and some without so we felt it had to be all or nothing.

we invited everyone with a guest. I agree with what everyone said I am not going to start judging who is in a serious relationship or not. Someone who just starting dating someone could wind up marrying them. A lot of the people aren't even bringing anyone and I personally would be offended if I was invited with out a guest.

we are inviting everyone with a guest. I didn't like being invited to a wedding w/o a guest in the past so I won't do it to anyone else.

We are inviting everyone with a guest because we don't have many single people at our wedding (this is also the reason why we won't have a garter and bouquet toss)

most of our guests are getting 'and guest' except for a few exceptions

Everyone with a guest except for my cousins which I hate (2 girls)
FH was invited to his friend's wedding a few months before we got engaged and I wasn't on the invitation. He actually called his friend and said 'Beth's coming right?' --yeah, it's rude, but IMO so is inviting someone without a guest! --which again is why I'm inviting my evil cousins with out one!

oh and about your kid invite question, OHEKA is not the place for children,IMO, so just leave them off and use that $$ towards having guests. They wouldn't appreciate it anyway, where a guest would.

i am only adding 'and guest' to the people that are in a serious relationship. i can't afford to let everyone bring a guest.

We will determine when we make the Final guestlist if we have to cut the 'guests'out-because we both have HUGE families -but I hope we dont have to do that

i think it all depends on money. if you can afford it i think inviting a guest will only help people have a great time and feel comfortable. however, my friends were recently invited to a wedding without their boyfriends and they had a great time but only because it was like a girls night out together.
