Ok..Booked my reception, Anyone having ceremony at hall?
I booked at Stewart Manor. I'm having a small wedding so it works perfectly. They include centerpieces, cake and color coordinated linens.I am not a real church goer so I was thinking of getting married there, they can do it for $300.
Is anyone else thinking of doing the same.
Is anyone giving a church a 'donation' to have it done there instead? If so what was the 'donation'?
I'm just worried if I do this all in the same place they won't be able to toss rice, roses, whatever at us.
OH, ps.. James, the guy at Stewart Manor was great. He showed us his linen colors and the PERFECT color was there for my bridesmaids. I've been looking for it forever. So he gave the linen to me so I can match!!! hehe

Re: Ok..Booked my reception, Anyone having ceremony at hall?
We had our ceremony at our reception hall and I thought it was perfect. We had an interfaith ceremony, so we felt the reception hall was our only option. I loved the convenience of it for our guests, many of whom traveled to LI. No one tossed anything at us, but that was okay with us. Ask about whether you can toss anything or have the guests blow bubbles. Rose petals are probably easier for them to clean up than rice. Good luck and congratulations!

Re: Ok..Booked my reception, Anyone having ceremony at hall?
I'm probably doing this also. Was just quoted $500, so $300 sounds like a good deal

Re: Ok..Booked my reception, Anyone having ceremony at hall?
Having your ceremony at the reception place is very common. I was married in a church and had to give a $500 donation...so $300 sounds pretty good. Does this include someone to marry you?

Also having ceremony at the hall. Ask what their policy is on rice/petal throwing, I'm sure every place is different.Good luck with the rest of your planning!

my MOH had her ceremony there (SM). She got married right in front of the fireplace. It was so romantic.

Re: Ok..Booked my reception, Anyone having ceremony at hall?
we are having the ceremony at the hall (The Watermill) - since neither one of us is really very religious either.we, too, were wondering about tossing stuff at us after the ceremony (rice, bubbles, etc.). we wanted to have everyone toss dired lavener buds to us as we walked out - we love the smell and they crush on impact so tey aren't dangerous for people to walk on. we asked the guy at the hall, and he said lavender was no problem because it does crush. they allow that and rose petals, probably bubbles as well.
i'd suggest talking to your reception hall and see what they say!
and the cost for us is $400 i think.
good luck!!

Re: Ok..Booked my reception, Anyone having ceremony at hall?
Yep...Indoors is in front of the fireplace. Outdoors is with the Gazeebo (sp?).
I HAD to book this place. Yeah, I know I'm way early (like 14 months to go) but the price was stupid to pass up.
I'm having a fall themed wedding. Oranges, pumpkin, gold and yellowish colors. So this woodworked place really hit the spot. Plus I only expect like 75, but 100 is a safe ceiling.
Better yet, $65 pp includes Cake, Cocktail hor dourves, hotplates, cold bar & carving station plus fresh flower arrangements with candelabras at every table, open bar from start to finish and dinner of course.
Did I mention we are paying for this all ourselves. So this place really was 'the one' I grabbed it when I could. Hehehe
It's going to be a day wedding. My fiance wanted the day wedding attire for the men. Plus with it being October days are a bit warmer. I'm thinking as we leave (around 5ish) we could let those still there throw rose petals at the door.
*Shrug*
$300 doesnt include the person to do the wedding. Still need to research that.
PS.. how early is early for planning wedding stuff?

Re: Ok..Booked my reception, Anyone having ceremony at hall?
I don't think you are early at all. Now is the time to start looking at photographers & bands/dj's. October is a busy wedding time and you want a selection and not have to settle.I think SMCC is perfect for a fall themed wedding - the paneling & woodwork is just beautiful!
