new question about digital cameras...where to buy?

We'd like to GO and buy (not online) a digital camera. Where's a good place to go in your opinion? I'd like to look at as many as possible and get a good feel for them, and I'd like knowledgeable salespeople.

As per my husband who is an avid amateur photographer the best place to go would be Neptune Camera on Franklin Ave in Garden City. They have incredibly knowledgable sales people (this I know as I have needed their help when buying stuff for DH) and they have an excellent selection.

If you are going to look in NYC the best place to go is B&H Photo on 9th Avenue between 32 & 33 St.. You can't miss them because they take up a whole block. They are closed from noon Friday until Sunday morning. They are open all day Sunday.

julybride i agree about B&H... the BEST place to go. They are closed staurdays however (it is run by hassidics). Their prices are not always the lowest.

My FI is a photo snob and what we usually do is find the model we like in person at a store, then order it online at the place with the best prices. We ususally use www.abesofmaine.com - a great resource.

also- i reccomend Canon!!! We have 2 and love them.

We really don't have time to order online, does anyone have a place with good PRICES as well as informative salespeople? I don't want to pay to much, but we really need to pick it up this weekend, we leave the following weekend for our HM in Fiji.

best selection -- B&H. knowledgeable sales reps -- B&H. best prices -- maybe Best Buy? There is a Best Buy in Chelsea in Manhattan so if you go in to try B&H you can do both in one day and price around.

be mentally prepared for B&H. The place is HUGE and looks like the Keebler elf factory but for hassidics LOL you'll see what i mean...
