Please recommend a good travel agent to me

I just read an article in Smart Money about how travel agents will try to make you reserve a vacation package for a certain company or tour because they get perks from that company for every few tours they sell. Other times, they don't know anything about the place they are booking for you. So of course I'm a bit worried that we will not get the best vacation for our money.

We are interested in Hawaii - does anyone have an agent that they know will get US the best deal rather than push us towards a deal where they will get perks too? Do you know if your travel agent went (recently) to Hawaii? Is your agent's prices reasonable? Does he or she use the web as well as whatever database they have there (Global something system) to find the best prices? If so I would love to hear from you about your agent. Lower Westchester/Nassau Co/Eastern Queens most preferred.

We used Kristine from Liberty Travel in Levittwo (Hempstead Tnpk)...reccommended by Teri and Michele31...and she was FANTASTIC!!

She didn't try to book us on a tour at all...and the hotels were top notch...there was a slight problem and they worked around the clock to have it fixed for us...
