I'd imagine most of them are still trying to get home like my DH!

I know - how horrible. Luckily DH was able to crash at an apt but he had to share a bed with his boss
I'm in limbo waiting for him to call. I certainly can't go to work knowing he's still in the city, but he hasn't called back since 7 AM
I'll take that as a sign he's on his way home.....

I hope everyone and their DH/Fhs get home soon and safe...I wonder if this will be a surge for the LI economy....less people wanting to work in Manhattan? (b/c of various events)

My brother in law had to hitch hike home
They wouldn't let Frankie go last night. They were driving fork lifts in the dark very dangerous so it seems somebody might be in trouble today!

Re: What happened with the ladies who work in the city & live on LI?
It was and adventure.I walked down to Penn at about 5:30 and told myself Ill give it an hour. I met up with some wonderful people who also ride the Babylon line and we all started talking. At about 7:00 it was becoming very clear that we had to make some decisions or we were going to spend the night on the street. I suggested we try to get a bus to Queens and I would try to reach DH and have him pick us up. When we got over to the Queens Transit bus stops of course they were like 10 people deep in a line down the block so we said forget this lets walk over the 59th Street bridge. We continued walking and trying to call people for rides along the way. Luckily one girl got through to her boyfriend in Babylon and he came to get us.
You dont realize how long that walk is, my feat are dead today.
But at least we all got home. It was close to 11:00pm when I got in. The longest commute of my life.Hope everyone else is home safe.

MY DH IS FINALLY H0ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He was able to hop on one of the only LIRR trains running this AM, so I picked him up at our local train station. What a night he had! At least he's now relaxing at home with the cool AC on
I'm at work though - I refuse to take a vacation day!

Re: What happened with the ladies who work in the city & live on LI?
I doubt this will effect th LI economy at all since there are no jobs here. I mean, people would love to work on LI, but you need companies to hire those people.I guess I owe my baby a big kiss for giving me a compressed nerve. I have been working from home since Memorial Day and today I am very, very happy. I would rather have pain then have gotten **** on a subway.

Re: What happened with the ladies who work in the city & live on LI?
Fran, I hope you are resting those poor feet of yours today.Teri, I am so glad to hear that your hubby is finally home.
Michele, I'm so glad you were at home. I kept hoping that none of the LIW pregos were stuck on the subway.
Hope everyone else is doing well and got home safely.
