baby blanket - please be honest...btdt moms

would you use this baby blanket?

I had trouble with the corners...so does it look too demented to use with a perfect angel newborn?

its a little rougher than I had wanted...but I have another pg friend...so I was thinking of attempting again...maybe actually getting the really soft yarn...what do you think?

Re: baby blanket - please be honest...btdt moms

Erica, I think it is beautiful, and YES I would use it! Just the fact that you put so much hard work into it would make me love it....AND it looks soft and cozy, so that will make the baby love it!

Great job!

Re: baby blanket - please be honest...btdt moms

it looks softer than it is...I was thinking about washing it and hoping that it would soften up a little...but does it matter what type of detergent I use...should I use just oxy clean...or nothing at all?

Re: baby blanket - please be honest...btdt moms

Thanks everyone...but I am still concerned

I'm really nervous about the roughness...but I guess if worse comes to worse..she can just have it draped over something...

its a combination of knitting and crocheting...but both are very easy....

do you think I should make the next one with the same yarn...or return the yarn I have and get the softer yarn?

Re: baby blanket - please be honest...btdt moms

I cannot even finish a scarf I started over a year ago so I think this is great.
they sell a baby soft yarn that you can use for future projects.
She can use this as a carriage blanket and then the feeling isn't as important since the baby has a jacket on. I think it is a beautiful blanket.

Re: baby blanket - please be honest...btdt moms

Erica, I would not use Oxy Clean on your hard work!

Most Moms use Ivory Snow or Dreft exclusively for baby's clothes and blankets. However, you could always try something like Purex - no perfumes, no dyes, no harsh soaps.

Re: baby blanket - please be honest...btdt moms

I would absolutely use it. I think it's beautiful, and even if it were the ugliest thing in the world, I would STILL use it because it was made with love and good intentions.

Re: baby blanket - please be honest...btdt moms

Nice job! I think it looks lovely. I would use it if I got it as a gift, especially that it was homemade with love. I like the design.

I agree about not using Oxyclean on it, I think it would be way too harsh.

Re: baby blanket - please be honest...btdt moms

should I just throw it in the washer with no soap?

or should I go out and buy some of the baby detergent?

it has dog hairs on it...since my dog sat by me as I was knitting...and occasionally got on top of it...so I definitely want to wash it...

I think I may go and buy the baby yarn for the next one...I'll feel better...

thanks for all the comments ladies...
I may start a business selling second rate blankets that you can tell your friends that you made...lol

Re: baby blanket - please be honest...btdt moms

I love it! My friend knitted me a blanket for the couch a few yrs ago and told me to use regular detergent and wash it on a delicate cycle. It's held up really well and is really soft. Just be sure to use a delicate cycle and tumble dry low.

Erica - on that same note, how long have you been knitting for? I've been thinking of learning It seems very theraputic to sit and concentrate on moving those big needles aaround for hours on end
