Good place to get hair dyed and hi-lites in Bayside or West Nassau

I need to dye my hair back to it's original color and then MAYBE hi-lite it. I don't want to pay TOO much, but I need a place that will give me color that ISN'T BLAND!!!! I want nice rich color!

There's a place in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center that looks pretty nice. I haven't been there yet as I just recently moved to the area, but you can try calling them. I think it's called Christie's.

Kragens is good... its not too far from Bayside
Christies is good too... i've been there once (my last haircut)

Intercessions on Francis Lewis Blvd does a nice job.
A co-worker goes to Nubest on Northern in Manhasset and gets great results.

I am thinking about trying Salon Z on Bell Blvd.

I went to Christies a few times (and I know ladies here go there-I apologize in advance) but I hate it there. The people at the counter are so incredibly rude and I think they are over priced for what you get (I had to tell them to trim my bangs last time I was there - I couldn't see they were so long!)

Christine, I couldnt agree more....the women who work behind the counter are the rudest and meanest women ever!! FI and I both went there and recently they lost two customers...we will NEVER go back!!!!

Salon Z isnt bad...I have had Stefanie cut my hair there. I havent found any other salons though that I like...I now go to a place in the city.

Would you recommend your place in the city? My stylist is in Fort Lee. I love her but I am tired of driving so far to pay a fortune for a hair cut.

My sister and I FINALLY got my mother to stop going to Christies. My mother is the easiest going about her hair and they still managed to get her upset about it. THe final straw for her was when she had to wait 8 days for an appointment (she's retired so she can go anytime) she gets there and the person her appt. was with was not there and the person filling is running late so wait over there. Another time my sis had an appt. for a pedicure but they didn't have time to give a full pedicure so my sister just had them change the polish. They still charged her for a full pedicure b/c they don't have a price for changing the polish. I can't stand that place!!!!!!!! Can ya tell

I just went to Christies in Bay Terrace last weekend and had a pretty good experience there. I think a few people on here use them.

I do have to say the counter people at Christies were def. rude! They're like 'go there.. .now go there' Its a hair factory. They sent me to one girl and didn't realize she had an appointment... so i went to someone else and i wasn't impressed with the girl who did my hair... she didn't even pull the pieces together to see if they are even. Took her maybe 10 minutes to cut my hair.
I have seen other girls work and it looked nice...

Thats what i love about Kragen... he is so meticulous and makes sure everything is perfect. And he's cheaper.

Tracy, where is Kragens located? I'm looking for a new stylist since my last one is in Brooklyn and I don't feel like trekking back there for a trim. Thanks!

I used to go to Nubest (for years!) but had it with them moving me all around and waiting forever for my apt... I go to Christies now, I agree the counter hags are b*tches (but so are the ones at Nubest), but the colorist i use (lorraine) is really nice and does an EXCELLENT job. I have never gotten so many compliments as I have when she started doing my color. To me the attitude is worth it to look good!

I also go to Intercession on Francis Lewis Blvd. They do good work and are very nice.
