my FSIL BIG surprise to me...?????

So I had lunch with my FSIL and she ask if, as a gift from her to me, she could get me a horse & carriage to take me to the church, like her and her sister had?

She wants me to keep it private & not tell anyone. Her DH would killer and I am not sure how my FH would feel. I told her no way, and she would not hear of it.

I never really thought of spending the money on one. (as it is I am not decided if I can splurge on the live butterflies I REALLLLY want)

What would you do????

Tell her you're not comfortable with that, as it is such a big expense and you don't think you could keep it's origin secret from everyone. Maybe you could ask her to get you the live butterflies instead...something that you really do want. How expensive are the butterflies, anyway? I'm sure they can't be as expensive as a horse-drawn carriage. It's very sweet of her to want to do that for you, but if her DH knew that she was doing it and it would upset him, tell her that you really wouldn't feel comfortable having part of your wedding be a lie to her DH.

Wow that is super generous of her. I am really not sure how much they costs. Does it go with the theme of your wedding? Are you within 1 mile of your church in order to use the H&C?

If it is really not what you want and didn't consider just kindly saw 'Thank You' but I would rather not have you spend so much money on something that is only going to be 15-30 minutes.

I said to her I will probally be getting dressing Massapequa (church is in copiague.) I tried to hint with butterflies and how i was not going to be spendig the money on them. (I have no idea how much carriage is, butterflies are like $300 - $400), depending on how many I got).

I can't not tell me FH either I tell him now or after it was over, and I don't want him to be upset then.

I thought that was a very generous offer. I just wanted to let you know to please ask around about the butterfly idea because the last wedding that I went to it didnt work out like they should have. I dont know why and I am not blaming the company that does it (in case your reading this) but I just thought you might want to know this.

Your FSIL is asking you to keep a secret from your FH? I'd say 'I tell him everything'. I wouldn't start your relationship as his wife with any secrets that might upset him, even if it is meant as a nice surprise.

I'd thank her to death..then say.. you've always dreamed of live butterflies. It's one of the biggest things you wished you could have. Ask her if she would mind too much in helping in that way. You know like....

Geez, Jane that's great.. you're wonderful! God you make me feel so lucky. My day will be wonderful, thanks for thinking of me! You know my whole theme is butterfiles.. I always wanted live butterfiles to be released.. can you see it.. waves and waves of little butterfiles.. God I really wished I could have that. Not that I don't think a horse and carriage isnt magical because I love it.. it's so like Cinderella-like.. as if I were a princess, but I'd really wish I could have those butterfiles. I feel awful asking, but is there anyway you could find a way to help me out with the butterfiles instead of the carriage. That way I wont' feel like Im hiding something from my FH and your DH? I would really appreciate it.

I told me FH,,,,, He figured his sister would do something like that,,,not surprised. After all the other sisters had one. I have THOUROUGHLY looked into the butterflies. I would not do the individual envelopes. I would take the time to place them into a box together, keep them dark and cool, then release then. Causes less trama, and they can leave the box when they feel like it.

I was going to have the Horse and Carriage when I was going to be married in May and it $1500 for the first 3 hours and $1000 each additional. And that was pretty much the going rate.
