I can't believe this happened to me

I went for my 2nd fitting on Friday, I drove up to the bridal shop and it was closed, it was out of business. My heart stopped for a second. There was no way to get my dress, headpiece and veil. The place closed about a week ago, and was robbed 4 times. It's since been under survelience and barb wire is up. The owners name and address was up on the window, someone must have found out and wanted everyone to know. My fiance went to his house on Friday and he said that he would look in the store to see if mine was still there. We didn't hear from him all weekend, so my fiance went back to his house last night. the owner said they checked and it wasn't there, it was stolen. I don't believe him, but what are you going to do, he won't let us go in and check ourselves, but from the looks of it, there is nothing left in the place.

I felt like my world was coming down on me, all weekend I could not be happy about anything. I have 8 days before we leave for NY, to get married in 12 days. You never think this will happen to you, but it can.

I called the manufacturer of the dress and they have my size in stock and they are overnighting it. But I do need to get it altered. I also need to find a veil and headpiece.

We went with pedestals they are right by my house and I know many people who used them and everyone liked them and had good experiences with them.

My GOD, how awful! Try and get as much info from the owner of the shop. Maybe you can get a police report # so you can pass it on to your credit card. Dawn Alesia is right. There are so may places in the city & LI that have great things. Where are you going to be staying? maybe we can all suggest places that you might want to check out.

Oh My God. That is horrible. For your headpiece and veil try Patchogue Floral. I walked out the door with my headpiece (it was in stock) and the veil took 3 weeks to attach it to a comb. I am sure if you tell them your situation they will rush it for you. I am sorry to hear about all of the trouble. Well I am sure I speak for the other girls on the board. oh man Brenda- I'm so sorry this happened to you. What a nightmare. I can't believe they would do that. I don't believe for a minute that place was robbed. Sounds fishy to me. It sounds like you handled everything well so far. I know it must be hard when something like this happens, but try to relax and take one thing at a time. I am so sorry to hear what happened to you. Now I am wondering if I made the right decision in ordering my dress so early(more than a year but I am plus size and wanted to make sure I could get the dress that I loved).The bridal shop where I got my dress has been in business for 30 years so I pray that they make it 31!!! At least you are able to get another dress and I am sure that you will look lovely. If you need the headpiece and veil I have no doubt that Patchogue Floral would help you out. Thanks for your input. We are looking for a low key DJ that will be elegant. I don't want a big light show and I don't want props. Do you think they can do what I want?
