Has anyone heard of this, or is my mother going a little crazy???

my mom calls me to tell me that my dad stayed home from work to paint their bedroom. she says it is standard (aka MANDATORY) to have a photo of the bride and MOB looking into a mirror in the parent's bedroom while the MOB helps the bride get ready. all of her co-workers agreed with her.

i have never, ever heard of this before!!! i can't believe my dad is painting the room for this purpose.

has anyone heard of this???

I've never heard of it being mandatory, but yes, alot of photographers do that pose (shot) of the bride and MOB in the mirror

I think it's really sweet of your dad to go through all the trouble....you should give him a big for this!

I dont think it's manadatory but it is a popular shot. It's kinda like the one of the bride and groom getting in the limo. I had a pic in the mirror, my mom had one and all my aunts did. So did my MIL and both my SIL's.

You can refuse and remeber it depends on the photgrapher, That kind of pic may not be his/her style. Ypu might want to mention that to your mom and find out if it's important to her so you can make sure your photographer captures it.

Severla of my freinds dis not have a pic like that taken. So it's def not mandatory/ or standard.

How sweet, yes I have heard, but I hardly did, or wanted, any traditional pics like that.

Yes, this is a very traditional and popular shot. It certainly isn't mandatory...I'm not doing it!!!

It's not mandatory, but i've seen that shot done. I actually love that shot! It's funny u mention this bc my mom has been REMODELING the whole freakin house for the past three months and she isnt finished. I think its cute though..bc she is soooo excited and she wants the pictures to come out nice.
P.S. My mom did her bedroom over completely...she's a nut!

I've seen it done (and at least 2 of my friends' parents renovated their homes/bought new furniture for their wedding pictures) but I never thought of it as mandatory. And I don't think I'll be taking that pic, but I'm also not getting ready at home.

this is just so funny!! i have never even heard of a pic like that and my mom is insisting that we have to take one. i just have to remember to tell the photographer to add to the 'must-take' list, although i am sure she will be vocal about it

when all is said and done, it will probably make a really nice shot - if i put it in a really nice frame, it'll make an awesome xmas gift!!!!

I have heard of it as well. Most of my friends did it. And I think my mom wants it. I told her I don't want any of me spread across her bed though. I want some of me in MY room with MY man in the moon mirror and MY Roman Numeral Clock.

I wouldn't say that anything is mandatory--after all it's your day

But, it's sort of a traditional, old-fashioned shot. I know that both my grandmother and my mother had it done. I don't think it's as standard now as it was then, but it's sort of come back into style especially with the trend towards photo journalism. Maybe you can have the photographer take a more candid shot, instead of so posed--it'll take some of the cheese out of it

I've heard of it and think its cute your dad is painting. My mom mentioned possibly getting a new picture to hang in the living room!! Parents!!! Gotta love them!!

it's one of the 'standard' like a picture of the bride/groom walking back down the aisle at the Church, or the picture of all the bridal party on the steps of the Church (or wherever) is 'standard' but it's not 'mandatory'. I won't be having that picture done. But hey - it's not the end of the world to have the room painted anyway

LOL!! My mom is remodeling and painting the entire house..why? she says 'So the house will look nice in the picures' She is insane!

Karen: I don't think its mandatory, but my mom wanted to stick herself in every bridal shot near the mirror, so be careful with that...

One shot may be Ok, but a bunch with bride and mom became too much for me (I 'politely' kicked her out of the bridal room)
