Would you let your FI buy world series tickets for $500?
I just came from his house and his friend called him saying that she has world series tickets for $250 each. He asked if I wanted to get them and I honesty gave him a dirty look and said no. He said that it would be his Christmas present...so I said that if that 's what he wants then fine..but I don't want to her him ***** about how much money something is for our wedding. I said they better be great seats for that much money. SO he goes in the next room talking to his friend and then he comes out and tell me that he didn't get them because of me(obviously pretty pissed) I think it is such a waste of money..but I wanted to make him happy...but since he sensed that I really didn't want in the first place, he didn't get them. Now I feel guilty. Would you let him get them for that much money?

Re: Would you let your FI buy world series tickets for $500?
If my DH was a huge baseball/yankee fan then yes - I would happily say go for it. If it was just becasue someone with an extra ticket invited him I would let say do what you want since he's an adult and knows what's too much to spend. I don't think I would be mad though, just a little annoyed.

Re: Would you let your FI buy world series tickets for $500?
Not sure. My DH is not a huge baseball fan, so spending 500 on tickets would be a waste of money in my opinion. Plus, I would have no interest in going in the first place. If it were tickets to the Stanley Cup or something, I'd let him spend the money because I know how much he loves hockey.

Hmmm...I don't tell Chris what he can and cannot do. If he wanted to get the tickets, he would get them. I don't have a problem with that whatsoever.

Re: Would you let your FI buy world series tickets for $500?
BTW...I would be going too that is why they are costing us $500.I did say get them but he said nevermind because I was annoyed in the first place. I would never say 'You are not allowed to buy them' I don't understand him...I tell him to get the tickets if he wants them...he decides not to get them and then gets angry at me. Men!

Re: Would you let your FI buy world series tickets for $500?
Yes without a doubt. Besides the fact that I'm a huge fan myself, if it meant that much to him to go then I would want him to go. I know $500 is a lot, especially when you're planning a wedding. But going to a world series game is a huge event if you're a big sports fan. I don't let money stop me from doing things too often (that's probably why we can't afford to buy a house
)I would want my husband to be happy, the money would come second to me.

Re: Would you let your FI buy world series tickets for $500?
It depends...$500 IS a lot, especially while in the process of saving for a wedding. What if he had just gone w/o you for 1/2 the cost? The WS is a HUGE event & it is I who is the huge sports fan in our relationship---so I think FH would think I was crazy if I spent that much, but he wouldn't stop me.Does he still have the option of getting the ticket?

I would 'let' him because it is the chance of a lifetime and I would never hear the end of it if I didn't!!

If we had the money to spend, then of course... but unfortunately with little Madeleine scheduled to appear in January... We can't really afford things like that right now...

Matt doesn't need my permission. But he had better get a ticket for me!!! I can't wait to go to the game
Karen-Try Craigslist.com for tickets. Usually not as expensive as e-bay!

Re: Would you let your FI buy world series tickets for $500?
Yes - no question. He never questions my spending on craft supplies, furniture, etc. In fact, I have a hard time getting him to spend, so if he wanted to go I'd tell him to go for it.

Re: Would you let your FI buy world series tickets for $500?
I don't 'let' Patrick do anything. We discuss things and decide between us what will and won't be done.In this case, I would have no problem parting with the $$, especially if I DON'T have to go with him.
I am only about a $5.00 baseball fan, not a $500 one!

Re: Would you let your FI buy world series tickets for $500?
I have absolutely no problem with it if it's what DH wants. In our case, I would be the one wanting to spend $500 on the tickets. I am a diehard Yankees fan. It's a once in a life time opportunity (or every year for a Yankee fan) but to be able to go to the game? That's priceless (to steal from Mastercard).

Re: Would you let your FI buy world series tickets for $500?
If FH was a very big fan and if he would accept that as his Christmas present and he would help me around the house more and buy me flowers and tell me how pretty I am once a day and didn't ***** about the cost of the wedding, sure I'd get them!
I know exactly how you feel. I just shelled out mucho money for tix for a (gag) Simon and Garfunkel concert (gag) for FH in Dec. He loves them (gag) and really wanted to go and said he would love seats close up. So I said all those things I said up there and he said he would (he's already done the flowers!) and I said OK. They were about $350 total. And yes, (gag) I am going too.
I like Paul Simon's stuff but not S&G that much. Actually not that much at all. Think anyone would mind if I brought my walkman and listened to u2 on it during the concert?

I would probably let him get them especially if he was a die hard fan.

Re: Would you let your FI buy world series tickets for $500?
I would have no problem with it, although I would be the one buying the tickets in my house. As a rule we discuss any purchases other than gifts that are more than $200, but since we usually agree on pretty much everything it's not a problem. The World Series is an incredible experience and I can understand his wanting to go.Welcome New Vendors
