If the Mets were in the World Series I'd ABSOLUTELY encourage it!! I have an issue with the word 'let,' I don't tell him what to spend or not spend money on and vice versa. Otherwise I'd be in a whole world of trouble with what I spend on shoes and bags and clothes...

You may not have spoken the words telling him not to get the tickets .. but your actions did.

When we have expensive purchases that one of us wants, we discuss it .. some things can wait .. like a TV or a digital camera, etc .. but some things can't be put off .. a chance for a game like this .. sometimes you have to be willing to splurge, if possible.

Yes I would and happily! I would also suggest that he take his brother or one of his friends rather than myself because I am not an avid fan.

If FH really wanted them I would say yes. But he would also wonder what we could do with those $500 especially with the wedding coming around. I got through ticketmaster 5 times today and I called FH asking him if it was okay to get tix. My gut said no b/c we have other priorities right now. We have seen the Yankees during a few of the playoff series already and we also got subway series tix last season so he shouldn't be complaining!

I have a friend who works for MLB and he would get me tickets at face value...$100 in the noisebleeds...and that was in 98

I don't tell Mike what he can and can't buy. It is his money, he works hard for it. Besides the fact that he is a huge sport fan, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Also, $250 is an AMAZING price!!

Karen-The people are legit. The scalpers don't usually sell on there. They are often trying to buy on there and sell for more. We have sold tickets there before.

Check it out. Most people will meet in the city and swap tickets for cash on the spot.

My hubby is a sports fanatic so I know the tickets would mean a lot to him. It's a once in a lifetime sort of thing...go for it!
p.s. to put it in perspective....concert tickets for Madonna's last tour were $250 each for nosebleed seats...so he's getting a great deal!

The one and only true all out battle my FH & I have ever had was over World Series tickets. I got invited to go to the Mets/Yankee game and he said it was cool. Later he flipped cause 'he' is the yankee fan and I could 'care less' so I should give up my ticket.

Hindsight is 20/20 they say. I didn't go because it seemed so stupid to me to fight over and I refused to give him the ticket.

Today, yes, I'd let him buy the tickets. I'd have to. I spent $600 on Paul McCartney tickets (doesn't include what i spent there). I have no room to complain. Right now I know he can get tickets to the World Series (if the yankee's pull it off) and I know I can probably squeak out two tickets here at the office regardless of where the game is. He's decided he wants to save the money for the wedding and watch the game from home. I'm honestly surprised. I kinda wanna go! hehe

Still from my connections here, If I can pull off two free tickets, Im dragging his butt to the game!

I honestly think it's a person decision between couples. My FH knows that $500 could go a long way for us and although I wouldn't TELL him what to do, I would definitely express my opinion on the matter and how I feel.

YES!!! Without a doubt( only if he was taking me of course) This is how I think of it.. YES 500 is alot of money but its not going to put us in debt. Might as well do it now instead of years from now when we have kids and a house and we will need that 500 more than we do now. Its like with his ranger season tixs i say get them until we cant afford it anymore.This might be the only time we can get them so do it!!

If he really wanted them I would have no objection. I agree with 04bride...it's a lot of $$$ but it won't break the bank. So might as well do it now.

YUP - it's not every day you can even get the tickets.
He would go and I would go too. The games are so exciting, and especially the World Series.
