Need advice/pms'y vent inside...

Hey ladies:

Well, alright, here's the dealio...

I was going to host a HUGE Halloween Party on November 1st for like 60 people. For weeks, I've been feeling taken advantage of because a few of my 'friends' haven't been acting very friendly - having gtg's and not inivting me, etc. One of my 'friends' invited like 20+ people to my party without consulting me and no one is offering to bring/kick in. Who is paying for all these people?!? Anyway, this weekend I went away with same said friend and another couple. The other couple - I threw a birthday party for the girlfriend in this couple a few weeks ago because I thought she was a friend and she never even as much as said thank you to me. So this weekend, girl who I threw a b-day party for pulls some high school nonsense on my husband (hid something of his) and he immediately blames me since I have instant access to our room. I knew nothing about it!! We get into a HUUUGGEEE argument where I throw all of his stuff out of my truck and I take off. Meanwhile she was standing there and SAID NOTHING!! We have had alot of problems over the past few years and have actually had a good few months where our relationship has been strong. It really hurts me to know that one of my 'friends' would stand by and create such drama in my life. So I feel like calling off this whole Halloween party because I don't want to go out of my way to entertain such a bunch of sh*!S (sorry, it's true). Am I overreacting to the situation this weekend or do you think my feelings are justified? Meanwhile I'm still not speaking to my husband and he slept on the couch last night...

I don't think you are over reacting at all and I cannot beleive your 'friend' stood there and said nothing while you two got into such a huge fight over a little joke she played that went way wrong. It's not like you were arguing over something private, she was the direct cause of the fight and could have immediately squashed it.

This would be someone I would not want to have in my life, it's hard enough without my friends making it harder. It's a hard, maybe cold hearted decision, but in the long I'd be better off (I have been in a similar situation and I did sever ties with someone because of all the trouble she caused on purpose).

I would probably not be up to making a party for anyone if I were in your shoes.

I am sorry you had this happen to you

Life's too short, and hard enough. You don't need the drama.

My DH has a big Halloween party every year. It gets very expensive though, all the food, and the DJ and renting the hall. So they charge admission! Nobody complains about it, either, and looks forward to it every year. I think last year it was $20.00 per person. I thought that was a little much, but people paid it anyway!! There are usually 60+ guests.

ETS: You could always try an admission fee, and that way the whole cost doesn't fall on your shoulders. Either way, I wouldn't invite this particular 'friend.'
