Vendor review from my August 30, 2003 wedding

Hello Everyone, Sorry this took so long but I have been gone for awhile. Had some serious medical problems prior to the wedding that had to be addressed. I have missed this board terribly, chatting with the other brides-to-be helped me with so mnay obstacles.

Part I:

Carlyle on the Green A+++: The COTG was the most extradionary venue, they were worth every penny. The food was excellent--crab cakes, filet, lamb, sushi, caviar and the CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN--our guests/family/friends are still raving about the food. All the liquor was top shelf--we had Guinness stout by request on tap along with other favorites Gray Goose, Couversiour--we had a lot of happy drinkers. Barbara my bridal assistant was worth her weight in gold, she was fantastic with my bridal party and family and during all my gown changes.Cindi our matre'd she and I were cut from the same organization/no BS mold--loved her, the executive staff at the COTG Susan, Gary and the chef...every promise was fulfilled, making the whole experience MORE THEN WHAT I EVER IMAGINED. We are so happy that we picked the COTG--and believe me we looked at several upscale venues. SECURITY: an important note to mention, the COTG was very aware of security issues that can occur, it appears that after having the Open there all staff members were experts on crowd control and security assurance. The bridal suites are LOCKED at all times and only 2 people from the COTG can open the rooms--my attendants, myself and my mother loved this--purses were literally piled 3 feet high. KUDOS again to the COTG--even the valet people were wonderful.

FLOWER MICHELE FLORIST A+++: Black Magic roses everywhere, candles, tulle, up lighting, Asian arrangements, bridal bouquets and attendants bouquets..everything was gorgeous and fresh. From the moment John, who is clearly an agel in disguise, brought the flowers to my bridal suite at the hotel, I was thrilled. I gave John, artistic freedom with several of the details i.e., asian arrangements, hallway, cocktail hour details but the most important thing was giving hilm full authority to decide whether the wedding ceremony was going to be INSIDE OR OUTSIDE DUE TO RAIN OR POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS. I had special medical concerns regarding my balance that would preclude me from being able to walk down an aisle outside if the groud was even slightly soft--and if it rains the day before or close to the wedding that is what usually happens---let alone my 86 y/o Grandma walking in heels also--safety was a concern. He had to make the tough decision and we ended up getting married inside--I was not disappointed, NOT DISAPPOINTED--he transformed the room into a romantic, fantasy of red roses with candles, tulle and lighting, it was BREATHTAKING. You can not control mother nature so having the back up plan was great and it was wonderful. My guests said that when I walked down the aisle, the crytals on my dress sparkled from the candle light..DH said it was amazing. John and his staff are the most wonderful floral artists I have ever met, they also superceded my expectations. My sorbonne bouquet was perfect for 3 days after--Incredible!!
