My 9/20/03 Wedding Review - Finally - Edited with a few pics

St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church, Greenlawn – A++++++++++++
I am not Greek Orthodox – Hubby is, so I had a lot of questions!!!! Lilly who works in the office at St. Paraskevi was just amazing and wonderfully helpful, even when I would call her 3x in one day with silly questions, she was always charming and helpful! The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and I clung to every word coming out of Father Johns mouth – he really made it so wonderful and so special, my entire family is still in awe over how beautiful the ceremony was.


Brentwood Country Club – A++++++
I would have to say that other than the fact that our cake didn’t look anything like the cake we picked out of there book and it was terribly lopsided, everything else was WONDERFUL - Scott was very helpful during the planning process. Our Maitre D’ Steve and our Bridal Attendant Jean were AWESOME. Every time I turned around Jean was right there and always one step ahead of what I needed.

Party Pro's DJ - A+++++
All I can say is Lou kept everyone on the dance floor the entire time. Being that Hubby is Greek and I am Irish & Puerto Rican - there was definately alot of different types of music being played!!

Duet Wedding, Huntington Station – www.duetwedding.com (Photography / Videography) A++++++++++
AWESOME!!!! I picked up my proofs the other day…… about 700 pictures, I have no idea how I am going to make decisions on what pictures go in our album…….they are all so beautiful. I loved them from day one. They are so very accommodating and really want to help in making your day extra special. One photographer showed up at the hubby’s house the morning of the wedding to take casual pictures of the men getting ready and another photographer as well as Eric the Videographer (owner of Duet) showed up early at my house to take casual photo’s/video also. If you need a photographer, definitely stop by Duet to see there work……THEY ARE AMAZING!!!!

A Few Duet Wedding Proofs


Avanti Limo – D- (package with the Brentwood Country Club)
I had to upgrade my limo from the package that the Avanti/BCC offered, as I had more people going to the church in my limo then the groom did. So after 6 calls confirming that I would get the larger limo and the groom will take the regular limo (and $250 more dollars) – and also confirming the times, directions, etc….smaller limo shows up at my house and hubby calls to tell me that no limo is at his house – UGH!!! Our ceremony was at 11:00 a.m. – hubby was suppose to be at church by 10:30…..my limo guy calls office and I hear them tell him that I cancelled that limo (WHAT?????) then story quickly changes to……oh the other limo is caught in traffic….will be there in 5 minutes……15 minutes later larger limo shows up at hubby’s house …did I mention the larger limo shows up……so 4 guys travel to the church in the larger limo and 5 girls, a bride with a train, and a flower girl with a car seat squeeze into the smaller limo and head off to the church. Hubby didn’t arrive at church until 5 minutes to 11:00……UGH!!!!!!! Also, every time we would call them to ask a question or confirm something I was asked to call back later or call back tomorrow. The only reason I didn’t give them an F is that my limo driver Mike was absolutely wonderful and helpful………he also drove the limo for my bachelorette party and again was wonderful and helpful.


Ken & Eva’s Flowers – B (Brentwood Country Club Package)
Although my flowers were beautiful and nobody else noticed, I did – my flowers were supposed to be white and lavender roses and the bridal party was supposed to be ivory and lavender…..needless to say my bouquet was ivory and lavender….although beautiful – not what I asked for, not what was in my contract….and my dress was WHITE!


Elena (The Bridal Touch by Elena) – Hair – A+++
Beautiful job……arrived super early at my house, did my hair, MOH, and 3 BM’s – everybody’s hair was absolutely beautiful. Our hair stayed in all day, and I mean all day….I was ready by 10:00 a.m. and my hair didn’t come undone until I took the bobby pins out around midnight.


Jacqueline Nicole (Makeup – www.prettyme.com) A+++++++
Jacqueline Nicole is one of the most sweetest (and talented) woman I have ever met…..she did an amazing job……arrived super early 5:00 a.m. and was just amazing. She did my makeup, MOH, 2 BM’s and my mom.


Burtons Bridal F – Of course they were very helpful and nice in the beginning – after they have all your money – things change. To make a long story short, they fought with me about alterations, to the point where I picked up my dress Thursday before the wedding and was at my grandmothers house till 10 Friday night while she fixed/made alterations to the dress. We ordered 5 bridal party dresses (4 were completely the wrong sizes) – don’t get me wrong I understand that all dresses are going to need alternations, but, when you need to take extra material from the hem to add to the sides to make the dress fit (and she lost weight – didn’t gain weight) that is ordering the wrong size! When the girls picked up their dresses 3 of them weren’t even iron/pressed properly, we had to do it ourselves. A friend of mine also used Burtons a few months ago, and had the same exact issues.

It's funny because JN said really nice things about Duet from a makeup artist's perspective. She said they are very respectful of her space around the bride.

Congrats again!! Sorry about the problems you had, but glad you had a wonderful day overall!! Yeah, they seem to have a problem with the whole CAKE thing, huh? Though, I don't know about yours, but ours tasted really good - the two bites I had anyway.
