Dog boarding/pet sitter recommendations needed

Unfortunately there is no one in my family I can leave my dog with when we go away for four days in March so I must board him. I've heard of 'cageless' boarding and I'd really prefer to do that because I hate the thought of him being in a cage all day. Any recommendations would be welcome. I live in Centereach but I'll travel almost anywhere to put him in the right place.

I will post a picture of my little guy as soon as DH runs the phone lines into the office and I can hook up my scanner.

Re: Dog boarding/pet sitter recommendations needed

Ok..I completely agree with cageless boarding. We are animal fanatics and do the same. After a ton of research, I found that the absolute best place was in NYC. It is called the NY Dog Spa and Hotel. They have two locations (the village and soho). The dogs play together all day. They have a nap in the middle of the day. They get multiple walks to the park. The people are super nice. Last time we took Sophie there, they were in the process of setting up dogcams so you can watch your pooch from your vacation. The people are super nice and there are lots of celebreties bring their own dogs there (i.e., Lenny Kravitz, models).

They even have day trips to a dog swimming pool. I highly recommend it. Obviously, it is pricier than a regular kennel. But it is worth every penny knowing that the dog is well cared for. Also, the dog is exhausted when she gets back. Feel free to FM me. They also have doggie daycare.www.nydogspa.com

Re: Dog boarding/pet sitter recommendations needed

Jenn-on the day of our wedding we decided to board our lab since the guys were getting dressed at our house and we didn't want him jumping all over. We took him (on a lot of friends recommendations) to The BED & BISCUIT in Medford. I checked it out first since i'm so anal when it comes to my doggy and I was very satisfied. There is a staff on all day and night and they take the dogs outside to play and into a playroom too. The cages to sleep were clean (ceramic tile floors, soft bedding etc...). My dog seemed happy when we picked him up the next day

Re: Dog boarding/pet sitter recommendations needed

I leave my little doggie only with COZY NOSES bed and breakfast in Bohemia. They are soooo nce and clean. When I went there -- they gave me a tour-- and they even let you choose where you want you dog to be -- and they let you pick a rug for him to take home a few days before you board him so he can have something with his scent on it . My babysitter used to work there and said they treat the animals wonderful!! Thats the only pl;ace I leave my dog.

Re: Dog boarding/pet sitter recommendations needed

I heard that there is a company that send people to your house to let your pets out and feed them as many times as you want..
