My 10/4 wedding review
I had an incredible, amazing day. It is hard to believe it is over!! I don't know if I thanked you all- without this board I would have cetainly lost my sanity and never made it. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!!!
First:
The Commack Wedding Center- A++++
I cannot recommend them enough. I heard many bad things about them, and booked them before I came to this board. I probably wouldn't have if I had seen the reviews, but I am so glad I did!! They gave me no stress, grief, or anything to worry about throughout the entire planning process. We got one of their packages that included limos, flowers, dj, video, and invitations.
INVITATIONS- The women in the invitation department were amazing, so patient, and my invites were exactly how we wanted them and there in a week.
VIDEO- The video lady was very sweet, and completely unobtrusive. Of course I haven't seen the video yet, but I saw her getting all the good stuff and am confident that it will be great.
PHOTOGRAPHER- We used Eric, and he was amazing too. Again, I have not seen the pics, but my dad took some after he posed us and they are great, so the professional pics must be great, too. He was funny, kept us laughing and happy outside even though it was rainy and buggy and we were all uncomfortable. He was quick too, so we got all the shots we wanted without missing the party.
FLOWERS- they were exactly what I wanted and stayed all day. They were delivered a half hour early and were perfect.
The DJ and Limos were also booked through the wedding center, but they use seperate companies.
DJ- Variety Music- Everyone was dancing all night. He played most of what we requested, and did a great job. He even saved us by pointing out that it is not appropriate to introduce the grandparents to Crazy Train! The only thing that was a problem was the cd for the song I was supposed to dance to my dad with was scratched and we had to pick a different one. I don't know if that is his fault or not...
LIMOS- Mark of Elegance- the limos to take us there were perfect, clean, and the drivers were very nice and helpful. We got married at the hall, so it was just a pick up/drop off. This made me mad- we had a town car pick us up after the reception to take us home (a 12 minute ride) and whe we got there the driver told us although the ride was included and paid for, there is a mandatory $50 gratuity fee. We prepaid our gratuity, and no one told us about this. A cab would have been cheaper, and if I knew it was $50 I would have went home with my mom. I was ready to argue and dh (yay!) paid him because he did not want to deal with it.
BRIDAL SUITE OF BAYSHORE- C
This place gave me almost as much stress as the reception hall. 2 bridesmaids dresses and my dress all came in the wrong size. I had to go to about 1000 fittings, and spent at least 7 hours there over the week of the wedding. For some reason, simple alterations were a huge project. I will say the people there were very nice. My mother finally went in there screaming, and they told me to come back because a much better seamstress would be in. Why didn't they give me the good seamstress to begin with? I won't say much more about this, except that when the dress was STILL too big and sticking out from my body, she offered to give me tape so I could tape it down. I can't believe that I paid so much for a dress and they thought I would accept taping it to my armpits.
HAIR-A++++ La Moda II in Hauppauge- Bridgette did my hair- it was amazing, I loved it, and it stayed ALL DAY. I was standing by the lake in the rain, wind, and bugs and my hair did not budge.
MAKE UP- Jacqueline Nicole- A++++
What other wonderful things can I say about her that haven't already been said, she was sweet as usual, and did an amazing job on me, my mother, my moh, and one bm. The airbrush stayed put and my makeup stayed fresh looking all night.
OFFICIANT- Reverend Frank Lapenna- A+
He was greatm he mad everyone laugh which is what we wanted. We also have a family of catholic and Jewish mix, and he made everybody happy.
RECEPTION HALL- Windows on the Lake- B
My reception was wonderful, the food was delicious, and everyone had a great time. Working with Windows though was a little rough. We were told a lot of things before we booked that were not true, and it was pretty stressful. I get the impression that they tell you anything to get you to book, and change their tune once they have your money. Honestly, everyone there reminds me of a typical used car salesman. The day of there were a few little things- we got the wrong chairs, they had our parents running around like crazy before the intro, and they messed up the favors, we had mini wine bottles and cookies (one each per couple). The kids table was supposed to have all cookies, and were given all wine. All and all, everything was great.
