Black Tie Question/Distinguishing the groom from his party

At a black tie affair how is the groom distinguished from his groomsmen?(other than he will be next to a woman in a white dress and tiara) He will be wearing a new tux, but certainly not an Armani or anything like that. His groomsmen will all be wearing any tux they choose. The 2 fathers will also be wearing any tux of their choice.
We assume we will ask the groomsmen to all wear the same vest or cumberbun.

Do the fathers ALSO wear that same vest/cumberbun?

Does everyone including fathers, groom, groomsmen wear the bouttonier/flower on their tux?

Does everyone wear the same vest/cumberbun EXCEPT the groom and then the groom wears his own individual style ?

HELP HELP HELP
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

Re: Black Tie Question/Distinguishing the groom from his party

I think my FH will wear a white cumberbun/vest and the GM's will wear the color of the girls dress. If the tux/accessories don't do it for you, what about the flowers- have the groom have white and the GM's wear the color the BM's have. Or maybe a t-shirt with the word 'groom' on it- just kidding.

Mh FH had a different vest on then the other guys, and he had a white rose and stpehanota, while the BM had jsut a white rose, and the GM had yellow roses.

The fathers chose their own tuxes, and they both wore white roses.

Re: Black Tie Question/Distinguishing the groom from his party

I really don't think there are any rules in any wedding planning that the bride has to go by. It's all a matter of taste. What does yor FI like. We went last month to the pick out tuxes and we decided that the groomsmen will wear a 2 button tux and FH will wear a 3 button tux, all are wearing vests. I found ties that I went and bought for all of the groomsmen and FH is going to wear a diamond white tie to match my gown. The fathers are entitled to pick whatever they want ( they both have nice taste anyway). Don't stress over it. Good Luck!

Re: Black Tie Question/Distinguishing the groom from his party

My hubby had a different vest but same tie as the other guys also. He also had a red rose that matched my bouquet and the groomsmen had roses that were orange/red to match more of the bridesmaids bouquets. The fathers had orchid bouts so they were differnt than the bridal party and matched my mom and his mom. Don't stress- the groom always stands out no matter what!

Re: Black Tie Question/Distinguishing the groom from his party

At my wedding:

Groomsman wore burgandy vests and ties, that matched the bridesmaids with a lavendar rose.
Fathers wore black vests and ties with a lavendar rose.
Groom wore a silvery-grey vest and tie with a white rose.

I thought this work well on the day and in the photos to make my hubby stand out and look like the groom.

Re: Black Tie Question/Distinguishing the groom from his party

My DH wore a tux with tails & a platnium vest & tie while the GM & BM(his dad) wore a regulare tux with smoked blue vest & ties. My dad wore a regular tux.

As for bouts my DH had a double ivory rose bout. GM & BM had a single yellow rose. My dad as well as my stepdad & 2 brothers had a single ivory rose.
