Florist and color swatches

OK, I'm meeting with my florist tomorrow and I was supposed to bring a swatch of the bridesmaid's color, but I am unable to. (I'll have it in a couple of weeks). Is this absolutely necessary? I'm getting married in March. The color is garnet...is it enough to just say that? Does everything hinge on this one color??

Do you have a picture of the dress. Maybe the florist can get an idea from the picture untill you get the swatch in.
