Alternatives to rice and bubbles

Neither of these options have been a part of my 'dream wedding.' I don't know, most places don't allow rice anymore and bubbles just aren't my thing. I'd love to hear some what some of you girls are planning on doing as you and your knew hubby leave the ceremony.

Re: Alternatives to rice and bubbles

i think that we are prob going to do bubbles... but I have been to a wedding where people threw flower petals

on 4 weddings i remember seeing people holding sparklers as the bride and groom walked out.. that could be cool- but too bad fireworks are illegal in NY lol

I believe someone posted that sparklers are legal in NY. I think some people do ribbon wands?

Re: Alternatives to rice and bubbles

I'm definitely incorporating sparklers somehow. Since the ceremony is at 2pm though, I don't think they would have the same effect they would have at night.

Re: Alternatives to rice and bubbles

We are thinking about having everyone throw leaves. The flower girl will also throw leaves.

Re: Alternatives to rice and bubbles

We did petal cones filled with purple petals. We found cones online that were actually flower seeds...so if you plant the paper flowers bud.

Yep and you can get them on amazon for cheap too! I bought them to exit the RH at night...but in the craziness of trying to leave we never used them. These are only good to use after the ceremony if it would be dark. If it's not going to be dark then you won't really see the sparklers.

Re: Alternatives to rice and bubbles

We're using rose petals. I'm going to make the petal cones and put them on the back of the chairs during the ceremony. I also found a website where they write your name and wedding date ON the petal! Probably a waste of $30, but i think its cute!

Re: Alternatives to rice and bubbles

At Michaels they have bird safe rice that most RH will allow. One of the points of them not allowing it is the birds, and the other is the slipping factor. This rice is flat and heart shaped so they don't have a problem with that.

We're getting married in a church, sorry I didn't write that from the beginning. They're very restricting.

Re: Alternatives to rice and bubbles

Our church only allows bubbles or bells. I think I might just go with bubbles cause it will look nice in pictures.
