Catering Hall Dilemma

A very good friend of ours booked the same catering hall as us and got a much better package and price than we did (because he knew someone). His wedding is in August and ours is in September. Do you think we have any bargaining power? Should I ask if we can get the same price as our friend? I would hate to go in and ask and be refused, but it is just eating me up inside that he is paying so much less. Any comments?

Just a note, I'll be walking down a 90 foot aisle, and I thought that was long! LOL

It can never hurt to ask. I will say that September is a popular month (that and June). Prices are higher for certain months because they consider it prime time.

You know what, if they want to accomodate you, they will work with you and help. ASK!

Catering Hall Dilemma

I suggest that you not bother yourself with "what-ifs" You booked the room and the package you did because you felt it was a good deal in a place that you really love. Your friend may be getting less of an overall package than you. You will probably get a better deal than your friend on something else. After you signed that contract there really is no negotiating. You also don't want to cause a lot of contoversy with the hall. They really can make or break your wedding. Same with the band or DJ.

At this point you should just try and be a bit more careful and check around before signing anything. We have all jumped the gun at one time or another. I hope this didn't sound too insensitive.

You can very politely explain to her that you would like the 3 teens to attend and if financial reasons are the only barrier from inviting them, that you 2 will pick up the tab. Who knows, maybe she doesn't want them there for other reasons..

well...

I think that Sept is a busier month than Aug and that is why your friend got a better deal. What time is your reception & what time is his. Sat night is the most expensive night, then sat and sun day, then comes friday night as the least expensive. Take that into consideration too. and if it all equals out, then ask the person who signed your contract. Maybe they cannot come down in price, but offer other perks. if you don't ask, you don't get...just don't be too disappionted if they can't do it.

Good luck....let us know!

Check out Mark Kauffman at (631)473-7752. I love my package...EXACTLY what I wanted...and within my budget!!! His style is definitely creative and unique among all his weddings...you'll see in his gallery. Definitely worth a shot...give him a call for his info packet!
