Change of season, color ideas

Well, we made a tentative decision to change from a fall wedding (sept/oct) to a spring wedding (May/June) - still outdoor ceremony if possible and all. That's us! We both realized that the spring invigorates us b/c of all the flowers blooming and such, but the last 2 falls we kind of got a bit of the seasonal depression blues, I'm really, really bummed that summer is over in a huge way, I still think fall is pretty - but I personally have a hard time looking forward to summer being over - when my p's close their pool I like need to call my therapist! I know that's not everyone, but we feel more comfortable with a season we look forward to.

Anyway, the 'big issue', I loved the colors I had in mind for fall - I had champaigne and red. Now with a spring wedding I'm not sure what to do. I'm not really a fan of pastels too much. I like deep rich colors. Any ideas? I was going to have a b-k made of red roses... now I have no idea what I should do? Is an ivory dress still okay for the spring? Yikes! I was looking in a bridal magazine, but kept seeing red dresses and deep purples (which I love), but can't imagine them for spring. Can I keep champaigne??? Unless dark colors in warmer seasons isn't a fashion no no anymore. Thoughts????

Re: Change of season, color ideas

i like deep colors also , imo i think they remind me more of fall/winter. I think the champagne would be fine just accent maybe with lighter color????? I think ivory will be fine for spring....I just went through kind of the same thing went from winter to fall, my dad wanted me to switch to summer wedding but everything i had was dark colors......good luck

Re: Change of season, color ideas

You can absolutely still have your ivory gown and the champagne bm dresses. Maybe look into changing the color of flowers, they don't have to be pastel, you can still get flowers in great colors in the spring...more bright than pastel. I love lilacs and hydrangeas. You could also have roses in whatever color you want and lily of the valley is always beautiful.

Re: Change of season, color ideas

I could see red at a spring wedding, or a dark purple for the flowers. Green could work too. I don't like soft colors either. My FMIL wanted us to have pink in the wedding, that didnt fly.

Re: Change of season, color ideas

You can do any color at any given time, it's your wedding!!!

I've seen navy in the summer and pink in the winter, so there are no hard and fast rules. No one will care if it's a spring or fall color.

I'm getting married in the spring and I'm having silver and bordeaux (a deep red) which would normally be winter colors, and ask me if I give a damn what anyone thinks!!

Re: Change of season, color ideas

If red and champagne are what you want, I say stick with it. It's your wedding and your decision! My BM dresses are black and it's an afternoon wedding. My only contribution to spring is the turquoise accent color the dresses have.

Re: Change of season, color ideas

We first planned on Columbus Day weekend, but then found out April Fools Day was a Saturday and had to do it. (Perfect for us)

I have always wanted black and red as my colors. My FI likes them too. It didn't matter what time of the year we're getting married. So, my BM are wearing black dresses (which they all thanked me for) and carrying red rose boquets. Do I care what anybody thinks?

If you are still contemplating.....The way I look at it.... the men are probably wearing black tuxes, no matter the time of year. Am I going to change their tuxes to a soft coral because it's a Spring wedding?

I am going through the SAME thing!
I changed from fall to summer and now I'm all confused about colors. I LOVE fall colors and I'm not that bif into pastels either. They're beautiful but I'm more of a champage/rust/crimson lover.

Re: Change of season, color ideas

We are having a spring wedding and are having champagne dresses with a taupe sash. The girls are going to carry pale pink and champagne roses. Our centerpieces will be a mixture of pinks and cream.
I think you can definitely keep champagne, simply consider a more springy color to compliment the dresses.

Re: Change of season, color ideas

I had a spring wedding and the girls wore grey strapless dresses. My flowers were a deep fushia. I inserted a pic of the flowers. If you want more info. FM

Couldn't fit the pic..
