Chateau La Mer
I live out of town, in Maryland, but I am originally from New York. My wedding is scheduled to take place in July 2001 at Chateau La Mer. Lou is the banquet manager handling my wedding details, and I really like him a lot. I am praying that all will go well...but I do not know anyone who has attended or hosted a wedding here. Have you any feedback for me? Thanks.
I called RK bridal, and they could order it for me, but the price I got was similar and decided to go with a local shop, since they had helped me so much and alterations would be easier.
It's a Mon Cheri, from an earlier collection and I had to search to find a pic. Finally found it on their UK site.

I have the hall booked for August 2001, and also dealt with Lou. I have gone to the food tasting, and it was wonderful. I have also heard many compliments from people who have attended weddings there over the last few months. I haven't heard any complaints yet.
Are you coming into the cocktail hour on the boat/yacht?

Chateau La Mer
Thanks Jennifer. I was a little worried, because I love the place, and haven't heard of anyone who has even tasted the food. Since I live out of town, it's hard for me to attend the tastings, which are always held on a weekday. Yes, I will be coming in on the yacht..too bad the whole bridal party can't partake in the little excursion. Any ideas of what you will have the bridal party do, while on the yacht? I was going to have them mingle/schmooze at the cocktail hour.

Star, if you do a search under Chateau Le Mer on the board you may find a lot of feedback. I know there was a lot of discussion a few weeks back about it.
I was going to suggest the same thing. We brides do think alike huh?? :)

Chateau La Mer
I hadn't really thought of it. It is only about a 15 - 20 minute boat ride, so mingling in with the cocktail party sounds about right. I'm not much of a stickler for details. If you are ever in the area, or can come down for an afternoon, I would suggest calling Chateau and finding out when the next brunch is. If you explain you are a bride and want to test the food, they will let you do it for free. It generally lasts from 12 - 2 and is a full buffet brunch with samples of everything.

Chateau La Mer
I have attended 2 weddings there and both were beautiful. At one my friend arrived by yacht and it was not as special that they made it sound, My friend was real excited about the whole arrival and no one even knew that they arrived because the staff did not announce it. Her coctail hour was inside with the deck also open to the guests, but everyone was inside getting food when the happy couple arrived.
I am not saying not to do the yacht, but I know that my friend was real disappointed that more guest did not see them arrive, out of 225 guests only 15-20 were outside. But every other of the aspect of the wedding was beautiful.
I wish you a happy day!

Thanks Donna for the heads up. I am trying to make sure this doesn't happen to me. I will need specific times of arrival, and will have either the matre'd or someone from my family move the crowd to the dock. My fiance is siked about that yacht arrival, and he will lose it, if no one gets to see us. Thanks again.
you know more Armenian than I do..I was raised Catholic and didnt really know my father's family so we did not grow up in the culture. I cannot help you with the music selection. Yes, the IAN has a bonding element to it no matter what. I hope you are getting a fairly easy surname. I grew up with a really hard last name and a lot of "what nationality is that?"..but whenever I would encounter an Armenian, they were thrilled. But I dont look Armenian at all so they get confused.. My new surname will be nice & easy, it's a new world out there when you have an easy surname. Sounds like your future children (OK, Im jumping ahead here) will have a lot of culture between you and your hubby to be. God bless!
Welcome to the world of TLC brides LOL. Your pic is lovely, you guys look great. I hope everyone will send in their pics to the website so we can all see how gorgeous you looked. :)
