Chinese DJ/MC/Entertainment Company - Recommendations?

Hey all,

I'm not a bride, but thought this forum would help me! My fiancee and I are looking for a Chinese bilingual DJ/MC/Entertainment company to use at our wedding. So far we have the following in mind:

Sang-A-Long
Chinese MC
OUO Corporation
Event Solutions

Has anyone used any of these before and what do you think of them? Which package did you use? Were you happy w/ the service?

Any advice and/or opinions will be appreciated; thanks so much in advance!

Re: Chinese DJ/MC/Entertainment Company - Recommendations?

i met with Event Solutions and I didn't like the fact that you don't know your MC/DJ combo until 2 weeks before your wedding. Also if you specifically want to book an MC they want to up the price to 'lock them in.' Also I didn't like that they didnt accept a song list and the quartet was randomly put together. There was so many restrictions...that I decided not to go with them. But I know a lot of people that went with them and were happy but I'm just not the type of person to want to deal with a lot of 'variables' for my wedding.

One of my friend who got married a month ago used Sang-A-Long and was really pleased with the service. I'm not familiar with the other companies you have listed since I used American company.
Here's a link to an asian bridal forum. You have to read carefully because there are a lot of brides from CA on there as well.

Re: Chinese DJ/MC/Entertainment Company - Recommendations?

I met with OUO, and I didn't love the way they dealt with me.

I booked with Pomatic: http://www.pomatic.com/ for my wedding this weekend. I love the attention I'm getting from Steve from Pomatic, and I'll definitely update everyone with my review!

Just think about how 'Chinese' you want your MC to be.

There's also:

Hey Paulaboo,

Thanks so much for the opinion! I also checked out Raymond from Chinesemc.com, he didn't impress me much and didn't feel any personalized attention. I never heard of Pomatic.com; is he a DJ/MC for weddings? Let me know what you think of him!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!

Re: Chinese DJ/MC/Entertainment Company - Recommendations?

I booked with OUO for my wedding in September. I did have some issues with them on the day of my wedding. They were late in setting up music for my ceremony..I was just freaking out and I'm still waiting on an explanation. One of the owners, Dennis, hasn't yet returned my call to explain to me what happen that day. However, I do have to compliment the MC, his name is Mason. He did a great job. Two of my friends used OUO too and they had no issues. I guess it's just my luck..but besides that, it went well once they arrived.JMO...

Re: Chinese DJ/MC/Entertainment Company - Recommendations?

If you want don't want to see or be a pissed off bride then don't use Chinesemc.com.

Read below why

Cliff notes:
Lack of professionalism
Liars
Greedy
Doeesn't communicate after receiving the money
Lack of enthiusiasm
Missed time that's forever lost

We had our venue in Wayne, NJ. We originally had it in Chinatown but that's a whole other story...

The main reasons for the bad review for this company is what happened on that day.

The MC/DJ came after the start time of our reception. From his mouth, he said they will be there at 2-3PM to set up. When we got to the restaurant around 3:30PM to set up he was nowhere in site. My wife called him to ask about his whereabouts, he told he he was just coming out of the Holland Tunnel, this was around 4:15PM already and I know there was traffic cause my brother was driving in 30 minutes earlier and wasn't even at the restaurant yet. So around 5 we call him again and he ends up being on Exit 10 on the NJ Turnpike and he should be more towards Exit 16W area. So he still another 45 minutes away. Then maybe 30 minutes later he tells us he's in Bloomfield or Belleville. The first giveaway is that the restaurant names don't match and second, we're not in there!!! He had the audicity to tell us that we provided him with the wrong info. What really pisses us off was that he said he has been there before so really I don't know what was the problem then.

The other things is more of details, I don't like to have my time wasted to meet up with him (I live in NJ and met in C-town)if they're not going to do what we asked. We wanted to personalize the songs and games played. We met twice to discuss this and email as well. Basically it was a royal f'up on their part for the bridal entrance and the games well, was one we mentioned specifically said not to play and come up with some others.

They overcharged me for a transportation fee of $500 cause they said they had to rent a van to haul the equipment, the 2 guys came in the DJ's personal car which was a Nissan maxima and all their equipment the trunk so I don't understand why the need to have such a huge transportation fee for only being 1 hr outside of NYC.

Cause the MC was late we lost the time to take pictures with the guests and family cause there was no one to announce and organize it. This is the time we can never get back. There is no background music as well.

I should of known from a prior performance 1 month earlier which MC Charla at my cousin's b/f sister's wedding, she just lacked enthiusiasm.

PS. The website feedback is pure BS. You wouldn't see this review on there and we based our choices from their website which was a mistake. After seeing that lackluster performance earlier we've already paid in full. I didn't complain to them since I know very well that Chinese company won't do jack squat to make any amends...avoid them like a pimple on a wedding day.

Thanks so much for the detailed opinion, I'm sure this will help others in making a decision as well. My fiancee and I also met w/ Chinese MC and we felt they lacked any enthusiasm and energy, and just seemed like they didn't care. After that first initial meeting, we already decided not to use them.

Thanks again for your comments!

Re: Chinese DJ/MC/Entertainment Company - Recommendations?

I went to a wedding where the bride and groom used Sang along. They're pretty good, very lively. I only heard the Cantonese/Eng. translation from the DJ, he's good. The only thing that some ppl didn't was that the DJ team were in tee-shirts. The main DJ was in a suit though. SOme of my friends felt the rest of the team should have been in suits also. I think that's a personal preference. Other than that, the entertainment was good. We had fun.
