Does anyone else have to keep using 'I'm planning a wedding' as an excuse for things lately?

Does anyone else have to keep using 'I'm planning a wedding' as an excuse for things lately?

Like forgetting to pay something on time?

Not calling someone back?

Being forgetful/ditzy?

I find myself using that excuse to SO many people in everyday, non-wedding related life. 'I'm so sorry I didn't ___________. I'm planning a wedding, if that's any excuse.' ... and they always accept that as being a totally justified excuse, thank GOD!

anyone else?

I use it for everything. I'm scared when the wedding is over, I'm not going to have an excuse anymore. It works though!

i agree with lauren on this. it never took over my life and if i did, for example, at work, i would apologize to my boss and move on and focus. luckily my boss was understanding, but only to a point.

Re: Does anyone else have to keep using 'I'm planning a wedding' as an excuse for things lately?

I just used it 5 minutes ago!!! I got a call from Family Court to reschedule a trial, and I said to the clerk, 'I'm sorry, but I'm getting married and will be out the entire month of October, so I'm not available for trial that day!'

well, not work stuff. That's I stay pretty focused on and don't use my wedding as an excuse. In fact I've been getting more compliments than ever about my work product lately, so that feels great!

I mean outside of work stuff, like not being able to find a receipt for something I need to return and 'jokingly' using the 'frazzled bride' excuse. As soon as I say, 'I'm sorry! I'm planning a wedding!'. People say, 'say no more!'. lol

you should teach a class on how to live a structured life! A wedding that didn't interfere with the rest of your life! That's amazing!

Well, I wondered why I was having problems, and blamed them on the wedding. Then I found out I had a tumor at the base of my brain. Enough said.

I agree with you Lauren. I never let my wedding control my life. I own my own business so I guess I know how to prioritize/organize. You can't use planning as an excuse for everything. Then you will always find excuses for something.

Do you think I could make some extra $$ doing this?
Honestly, the wedding was the wedding. I knew there was life beyond that day.
Did I think about it a lot? Yes!
Did I let it become an excuse for screwing things up and forgetting to do things? No.
Thats what I was trying to say!

I think I'm just getting ditzier.

I've had to make my lists more detailled so I don't forget things. I wouldn't blame it on the wedding per se, just having a lot of things going on at the same time makes me forget certain things. Luckily, it hasn't been anything major yet though.

well, then you guys should CO-teach this course and teach these very valuable lessons! I'll probably find some excuse not to attend, though!

you mean smart, classy, intelligent, mature people who are sick of the little games you're constantly playing with your friends? You do know this isn't LIHighSchool.com, right?

Look... I'd appreciate it if you would just not respond to my posts anymore if you can't do so maturely. I don't have time for this - and you know exactly what I mean. I couldn't care less what you and your friends FM privately to each other, which I know you do... just stop bringing the childishness into the chats. No one, including me, wants to see it.

I just want to say that I haven't read any bit&^y posts in a long time - which has been great - I don't know what the last few posts are about but can we just not respond to something if we don't have something nice/supportive to say/contribute?

I know exactly what you mean...the last 2 weeks before the wedding while I was calm and collected, I was able to forget the simplest things...one day I forgot to go to lunch!

Re: Does anyone else have to keep using 'I'm planning a wedding' as an excuse for things lately?

and to respond to your post-- i know you weren't referring to work but with other things i have been bad... it just seems like my mind gets so cluttered with thoughts about the wedding (and i'm sure it will get more and more as it becomes closer) but i think that's why my head is in the clouds sometimes. i've been great at work though-- i leave it at the door (and i can still post on here and do well which is great!!). but it's been a big time excuse for other little things hehe
