Freaking Out!!!! - A WONDERFUL update!

Okay - I bought my bms earrings from Tiffany's. I have 9 bms, so you can imagine how much this was all sent at once in one package. Well, I ordered them directly from the 5th Avenue store, and called yesterday to check on the status, because I had not received them yet.

I get a return phone call today on my answering machine saying the package was delivered by UPS on Nov. 5. When I looked up the tracking #, it does in fact say it was left on the porch....well, I don't have this package!!!!! I have called the customer service rep back twice and no response. Wouldn't you think for a package worth over $600, they would require a signature? Am I still responsible for the payments??? What should I do????

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

Edited...just re-read

Call UPS and ask if someone signed for it...someone is always supposed to sign for a UPS package.

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

It was UPS...the customer service rep. left the tracking # on my answering machine which I looked up online, and it does say it was dropped off on the porch...but nobody signed for it obviously, so how can I be responsible for it??

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

OMG!! was it sent all together? or in individual packages? how stupid of them to send it without signature..

if they admit to having sent it without signature, I don't see how you should be held liable..

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

Ugh my God how stupid does Tiffany have to be to not indicate signature required. This should not be your fault.

Did you discuss it with Tiffany directly when you arranged to have it delivered?

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

No, signature requirements were never discussed. All they ask is how you want it shipped - I chose UPS, and that was it...

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

OMG! I am always afraid of this happening, so sorry to hear that it actually happened to you. I don't see how they can hold you responsible, since nobody signed. Call your credit card company and see if you can reverse the charges.

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

Did you pay by credit card? If so, I would try contacting them to explain the situation.

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

Unfortunately UPS can send out Ground - which means no signature required.... If ever - for the future obviously - you want something delivered.... have it delivered to where someone will no doubt be to accept the shipment.....

I would check out with UPS what they say!!!!!!

Good luck!

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

I work in retail...they can't do anything without a signature. Call your credit card company right away and say that you dispute the charge on your credit card and that you never recieved the items..they will have to investigate it and when they contact the store, they will need a valid signature or else they will have to reverse the charge on your account. Trust me...people scam all the time unfortunately, and we always have to pay the credit card company back if we deliver without a signature.....

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

Call your credit card company immediately and stop payment. Then call Tiffany customer service and tell them that you refuse to pay. You have a case here for your credit card company to refuse the charge. Shipments over $100 should always have insurance on them, and require a signature. It's their fault for not insuring it, or putting the delivery signature requirement.

God what a mess!

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

Def dispute this with your credit card company. I work with disputes all the time and you can def win this case since there is no signature. Tiffanys should have common sense to ask for signature no matter what they send out as it is $$$$.

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

I am so sorry Marnles
I cant believe they would not require a signature on such a expensive package.
But they should of had some insurance on it for what it was worth. I would call TIffanys again
Good luck
they should be responsible for dealing with ups etc? and just resend your package with a signature required.

good luck

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

Alright - I just called UPS, and there definitely is no signature on file. They said that I should called Tiffany's back, and have them call UPS regarding the matter. I asked them who was responsible to get the signature UPS or Tiffany's and they said, well Tiffany's did not require a signature (perhaps they insure themselves), but that UPS takes responsibility for items left outside on a porch. But he said, they discuss this with each other and come to a resolution after an investigation. I am going home now and ripping my porch apart...if there is no package, first I am calling my credit card company, then calling Tiffany's AGAIN for the 3rd time...
And then I will be bugging ALL OF YOU what to get my dear bridesmaids in place of this....ugh!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for listening and the advice...I'll keep you posted...

I agree with the above advice, call you credit card company now!

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

It will all come out ok but you might have a headache with it for awhile. Tiffany's is a reputable place they are more likely to work with you than some other companies. Call them and speak to a manager about it. I think UPS will end up being responsible though. They are not allowed to leave anything without prior approval. My next door neighbor gets a regular weekly package sent to her and if she does not leave a note requesting it to be left they cannot leave it for her!
You will most likely have to file a complaint with UPS.
Good luck -I had a problem when my fiancee moved to Michigan I sent him a gift (not nearly as expensive as the one you lost) and they left it with someone - turns out it was the management office but they left him no note, or anything else to let him know who it was left with. It took him a few days to get it settled.
Good Luck

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

UPS Ground does not require a signature but you would have thought Tiffany's would ask for it with that high of amount in your purchase. Maybe a neighbor took it in for you. I always take for granted that a package left on my porch would be there, sorry that you have to deal with that.

Re: Freaking Out!!!!!!!

Crazy that they'll leave a $600 Tiffany's package on a porch, but it took 4 attempts and a 3 calls to the post office for them to leave my $10 JCrew sale sweater!!!
