Re: friday night vs saturday evening wedding

i think they are both fine- you end up paying so much less for a Fri night than a Sat night!

My FH was dead set against against a Friday night wedding though, (he was concerned w/ people missing the ceremony b/c they wouldn't be able to get out of work) and since the cost of a Saturday night wedding was too much for us I ended up going with a Saturday afternoon...

But I was totally open to a Friday night if FH was open to it. It ended up being $10pp less than a Sat night!

Re: friday night vs saturday evening wedding

well we'd be getting married at the RH, so we wouldnt have to worry about a church. i've also always kinda pictured my wedding going on till late at night, so maybe a friday night would be better. we're going to discuss it more later and get the prices tonight

Re: friday night vs saturday evening wedding

I wanted to do Friday over Saturday night, because then the wedding would be on New Years day, but i had tooo many people complaining about having hangovers and stuff like that.

If you are having the ceremony at the hall i don't think its a problem

Re: friday night vs saturday evening wedding

We were going to do a Friday night as well but, everyone was worried about work and it was kind of difficult for the OOTner's. I say go for it!

Re: friday night vs saturday evening wedding

Both are fine with me. We ended up with a Friday night for the reception and the church isn't too early either (4:30). The reason we picked Friday was only because its our anniversary. FH was concerned about the whole Friday and work thing for people but after talking to alot of people about it, hes fine with it now. If our anniversary fell on Saturday, we would have gotten married then.

Re: friday night vs saturday evening wedding

It really didn't matter too me. My mother's only concern with a Friday wedding was that less people go to the church because of the time, plus the out of town guests. Personally we have quite a bit of out of towners and having it on a Saturday gave them extra travel time. As far as the church, it depends on your feelings about that.

Re: friday night vs saturday evening wedding

I think that alot of people can take off on friday- after all, who wouldn't want a 3 day weekend?

As long as those that you definatly want to be there (immediate family, close friends, etc) can be there on a friday night, why not? Esp. if it saves you money.

You can also probably get a Saturday afternoon for cheaper as well. I'm doing Sat. afternoon 1-6. We're gonna go to a hotel and have an after party then. An even LONGER celebration!!

Re: friday night vs saturday evening wedding

I have found a few problems with a Friday wedding since my brother will be getting married on a friday in 2 weeks. Most of our family has to take the day off to attend the ceremony and theres going to be a ton of traffic since its the start to the summer and it seems like everyone is on the highway. Another problem is many of the guests work and then come to the wedding really tired and have to leave early since they are so tired. On the postive side, it saves you money and most people have Saturday off to rest!

Re: friday night vs saturday evening wedding

I didnt mind the idea of a Friday nigth wedding. The way that I felt was that the people who were closest to me would take off on the Friday whehter I had the wedding on the Friday or the Saturday...Fh's mother had a big problem with it...but if it would have saved us a lot of money then I might have went with a Friday night
