Help! I'm freaking out!

Ugh - I can't believe this. I booked my hall (the Milleridge Carriage House) back in February for my May '04 wedding. I booked it because FH had told me to only count on about 20 people from his side of the family coming to the wedding since they all live in Alabama and don't have much money, so he doubt that very many of them would make the trip. My sister said that 65 people from our side of the family came to her wedding, so that would make 85 people total for my wedding. The minimum at the Carriage House was perfect - it's 75. Plus, their prices for a May wedding are really good. There aren't very many halls that have a minimum less than 100, so I really didn't have much of a choice when I booked the Carriage House.

Now all of a sudden, like EVERYBODY from FH's is saying how they can't wait to come to the wedding! Friends of his family even want to come! So now, the total has grown to about 130!!!

Can anybody suggest a good place in Nassau that isn't cheap but isn't expensive either? I'm looking for around $80/pp. I tried the Swan Club but they're already booked for the date I picked (I already booked 3 other vendors for my date, so if I change my date I'll have problems....)

Woodbury Country Club is $75 Friday, $95 pp on Saturday and $85 on Sunday evenings (before tax and tip). The Millerage holds 130 people for sure, is that what you're worried about?

Re: Help! I'm freaking out!

Don't worry about the minimum number...
A min is the lowest amount of people that you need to have to make it worth your money.
The room probably holds about 120+, if you were allowed a min of 75.

What is the MAXIMUM NUMBER that can fit in the room?? Thats what you need to find out.
You might be right on the ball!
Don't freak. Call your contact person and talk to them.
Everything is going to turn out fine!

The minimum is 75, but how many does it hold? Did you ask the max number that fits?

Re: Help! I'm freaking out!

The max number that the Carriage House holds is 130, but they said 110 comfortably. The Cottage is already booked!

Wacky, what is the SMCC? Is that where you got married?
I'll try the Woodbury CC.

Keep the ideas coming! Anyplace on the water? I'm pretty sure the minimum for John Anthony's will be too high for a Saturday night. I think it's close to 200. Any other water locations in Nassau?

Thanks so much - I'm out of state so I can't just come home to NY whenever I want to look at halls

Re: Help! I'm freaking out!

Just wanted to add that I had my wedding at the Carriage House and had 100 people at it was the perfect size for that room. Anything more than 110 in that room would feel squished and you would lose dance floor space.

Re: Help! I'm freaking out!

I wouldn't worry. A lot of people say they will be able to attend and then when they start the planning, they realize they can't afford it. You and FH should sit down and seriously evaluate the list and let FH tell you his HONEST opinion of which peope he thinks we be able to attend. My list is 140 right now, but I know that even those who say they want to come, won't be able to, so I will probably have 110-115.

Good luck!

Try the sand castle - I dunno if that's the look you want, but they have a room that hold 150 comfortably

ddunne - that's exactly what the Milleridge told me and that's why I'm worried. We have to just get a finalized list of guests together and see what it comes out to.

Thanks Wacky - I forgot about Stewart Manor. Did you write a review on it?

Re: Help! I'm freaking out!

Since your wedding is almost 10 months away, I would not worry to much. Like someone else mentioned everyone's initial instinct is to say "sure we'll be there" and then as time gets closer people realize for monetary or other reasons that they can't make it. I was in the same situation as you. My whole DH's family is from Indiana and he said most won't be coming. In the end those that came were what we expected, but in the beginning it seemed like a lot more would be coming. So don't freak out just yet. Things will most likely change for a lot of your out of town guests.

Try Westbury Manor- very victorian style and nice grounds for pictures. They are very reasonable. They have two different size rooms. Ask to speak with Susan, she if really nice and helpful.
