Hey ladies, this is for the Catholic Brides who are stressed
I have been wacked out lately, Paul and I are fighting contantly and I just want to crawl under a rock.Well I made an appt last night with the priest who is marrying us and it was great.
'
'It really helped me out, I felt kind of renewed when I left.
He put things in perspective for me and I feel good this morning.
I just wanted to pass this along just in case anyone else is feeling the same way,
He stated that its really important for the bride to step away from all of this and take a break in silence. Whether it be a weekend alone, or a day alone. Just a break to be by yourself with no on tugging on you.

But seriously girls, Catholic priests are getting the baddest rep right now, but the fact is they are a lot more understanding than people think. A lot of them have degrees in counseling and social work and sometimes it really helps to tell them your problems. I know when I met with my priest I felt so much better about the arguments that went on.

OK, I didn't know he was leaving. I was seriously hoping that he would be the one doing our wedding. Now I don't know what to do; I don't know the other priests. I heard somebody on this site say that they wouldn't get married at Cure if they had to do it again.

Or, my little Wackadoo, you can kick Paul in the ass and go out and get bombed.
Just kidding!! Seriously though, the priest that is marrying us has been such a complete help, and so understanding and thoughtful....he really does help. T knows him...he's the salt of the earth!
Thanks for this Wacky...I think I'm gonna go out by myself today and SHOP, before I lock myself in a padded room.

No, Cure of Ars in Merrick. Actually, technically my father belongs to the church. My mother, myself, and my brother, are Lutheran, but since my fiance is Catholic, I figured it would be better to have the ceremony at Cure. My family is so confusing.

Re: Hey ladies, this is for the Catholic Brides who are stressed
Wacky - I completely agree. I will be confirmed a Catholic next Saturday (Holy Saturday) and I cannot wait. And I will tell you that the Catholic priests and nuns who have given me counsel in the last year have made a world of difference to me and I am very grateful. I am very proud to become a Catholic. To those who say (and there have been many) 'The Catholic Church is a nightmare....the priests are all pervs....they're too strict...' insert insult here -I say that it is the same thing as saying the NYPD is all corrupt, or they are all broomstick assaulters...it is very easy to paint the whole group as bad based on the actions of some instead of taking the time to investigate, educate and understand. A few bad apples do not ruin the whole bunch (and this does not in any way mitigate or excuse what some of the priests have done. They DO deserve to be punished).
But believe it or not, there are still many, many Catholic priests out there who love God, are committed to their faith and that of their flock, just as there are many, many cops out there committed to the good of the people they protect.
Thanks for posting this Diana. You made my morning.
