I need opinions on Cocktail Hour choices...ladies, all ladies, help me now!
Hello lovelies,So FH and I went to finalize our menu today and I asked about a shot slide at the CH, once they explained what it was I was no longer interested (can get a little messy with my not so smart guests
) but they did tell me about the martini bar and it sounds like something I would want (being that I'm a lush and all! ). My question is, is it worth it?For those of you that have been to weddings, is the martini bar at the CH worth it or would we be fine without one? Note that the martini bar is only for the CH and it's in addition to the regular bar...there would be a bartender behind a martini ice display making specialty martinis. The same martinis would be served anyway in the regular bar, but this bar would be martini only (cosmos, chocolate, dry, apple, etc.).
Sorry for the long post, I just want to be as clear as possible...please reply or vote.

I don't understand. So are you not having open bar? Shouldn't a bartender be able to make you anything you want? Or is it the exotic flavored martinis that the Martini Bar offers?

If they serve these martinis at the bar anyway I wouldn't pay extra for a separate martini bar....sounds like a money maker to me!

a martini bar is ADDED on to the open bar...
It offers about 30 specialized martinis and usually had an ice sculpture..
I had it and it was a big hit...is it necessary ...no...
BUT i am sooo happy i did it

omg, that sounds yummy. I know a lot of people like martinis especially if they come in different flavors.

Yes, we are having an open bar (with premium liquor)...and the regular bar will have all the ingredients to make any martini. The martini bar is in addition to the regular bar and it will serve martinis (exotics, specialty, etc) only. So the regular bar will serve anything...beer, wine, vodka, Johnny Walker, etc. but the martini bar will be like an additional 'station' that will only serve martinis and the bartender will stand behind an ice display.
Hope that makes sense.
Any past brides that had this (RedHead where are you?) do you have pics? Is it worth it?

skip it. If the martini drinkers can get them at the regular bar, it doesn't make sense to me why you'd want them at a separate bar, too.Is it free? If it's free, then go for it.

Not free, but our BM is giving us a deal and offering it at cost...way less than what we're paying for the chocolate fountain (and that's $4pp). So I'm torn because at this point it's a drop in the bucket, but I'm not sure if people will love it or if I should put that money somewhere else.

i had one but my grandparents have my proofs...sorry
It was REALLY cute...More people had Martini's than any other drink...

In my opinion, you know your guests better than anyone. Will you have many people that go for it? Just think too, it is only for an hour, will enough people utilize it. I think its a nice touch, but definitely not necessary.

My hall offer the same option for like I think $8 pp. While I think it's really cool, I think the only people who would take advantage of it is my friends, so I don't think it's worth the money since they can still order martinis at the bar. But again, it would look cool!

You are right, money is money and it can be used for something else...shoes, the HM, anything. I know. Which is why I posted because I'm having a hard time deciding...I'm leaning toward yes, but want to know if it's a waste. My guests are mostly spanish and old school, so they won't get it...this is something I would do for FH and I and our friends...old spanish people want Johhny Walker Black, not martinis.
