Not free, but our BM is giving us a deal and offering it at cost...way less than what we're paying for the chocolate fountain (and that's $4pp). So I'm torn because at this point it's a drop in the bucket, but I'm not sure if people will love it or if I should put that money somewhere else.

OK, so if it's way less than the chocolate fountain, let's say it's $2 pp times 150 people plus service charges, etc., so around $350. What else did you have in mind for that money?

OK, so it's even less than that (only having 100 guests) - but you are right, money is money and it can be used for something else...shoes, the HM, anything. I know. Which is why I posted because I'm having a hard time deciding...I'm leaning toward yes, but want to know if it's a waste. My guests are mostly spanish and old school, so they won't get it...this is something I would do for FH and I and our friends...old spanish people want Johhny Walker Black, not martinis.

Decisions are hard. I wonder if they'd be willing to keep the martini bar up throughout the reception...

If you didn't have anything specific in mind for the money and you think you, FH and your friends will enjoy it, then go for it. (This is irrational, big-spending bride here, not practical bride who posted under my name before and said skip it.)

I voted for the martini bar!! (SIDE NOTE: We'll be having the shot slide--at Sebastian's request!)

My FBIL & SIL had the martini bar at their wedding...it was AWSOME! I had my first apple martini that night!! Okay, I had my first 3!!! I say, if you can afford it, get it! It was a BIG hit at FBIL&SIL's wedding!

Hey mama!! Ok, I would say yes if it is reasonable. I love cosmos and apple martinis are great. People will definetly remember that. I would rememebr that. I am a lush too. Your wedding sounds like so much fun!!! Shlt, I wish I were going!! Have the bar!! That is people drink the most in my opinion. Keep the lines to a minimum.

I would say no probably. I know for my guest list, not that many people drink martinis. But, if you know that a lot of people you are inviting are fans, than go for it!

Thanks hon! And you're right, all my friends drink the tinis, so the regular bar will be filled with regular drink orders anyway...plus, I know it'll look so nice. I mean, how can you not like lit ice with vodka on top?

What am I doing up reading this??? Couldn't resist!!! I had the martini bar... I first wanted it and the cost was really high, so I told my BM to forget it. When I got there, they had given it to me and it was the biggest hit. (Although, they rolled it into the reception as well) I do have pictures, just not on the computer. I'll try to scan over the weekend to show you. I think there's a picture of me with every color hee hee... and didn't spill a drop!
I see you already decided to go for it, you won't regret it!

I looked into this since my friends and I all LOVE martinis. Mom thought it was a HUGE waste of money (what else is new) so I dropped the idea but dont think for a moment that its not a great thing. I didn't think they were that expensive either. If you've got the money I say GO FOR IT!!!!!!

a martini bar is ADDED on to the open bar...

It offers about 30 specialized martinis and usually had an ice sculpture..

I had it and it was a big hit...is it necessary ...no...

BUT i am sooo happy i did it

Personally I'm not a big drinker so I wouldn't go for it. But if you and your guests are really into martinis then it might be worth it. But if no one's gonna make use of it and it's just gonna go to waste then don't bother with it. They have the open bar for those that want to drink, that should be enough. JMO!

Ok, so I had a vodka bar, which was pretty nice touch, but I didn't pay for it. I was going back and forth between having the sushi station and the vodka bar and I chose the sushi. I figured, if they want any drink, they will be able to get it at the bar. The place threw in the vodka bar as a surprise! I was shocked. I don't know if I had to pay for it, if I think it's worth it. If it was up all nightmaybe, but not just for the CH.

I went to a wedding a few weeks ago and they had a Sour Apple Martini fountain during the cocktail hour. It was a HUGE success!

If they serve these martinis at the bar anyway I wouldn't pay extra for a separate martini bar....sounds like a money maker to me!

I do not think it is necessary because the same martinis can be served at the bar...

My friend had Martini Bar at wedding and it was nicely set up...but every drink that served there was served at the bar...so why pay the extra money???

I would go with the shot slide....
We have them at BBQ all the time and love them.... but they are messy. But most of the people going to the wedding will get pretty messy without the slide.. (Drinking messy)

they would all die if they saw a shot slide at the reception.

I think it's a great idea, but I probably wouldn't do it, only because money is tight and I would be able to put that money to other uses.

all the martini drinkers at my wedding will be able to order a martni at the bar, where all the other drinks come from.

IMO, complete waste of money.
