Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

I am not inviting any children. I just told my FMIL and SIL and they are going to spread the word around their families. Since they have a year to plan making the trip, they are going to find other arrangements for the kids.

Kids are coming to my wedding - there won't be a whole lot of them (around 10) but I want them there!

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

Same as Olga for me. We will have kids at our wedding. Kids that are either family or close friends of the family. We really want them there. Kids are so much fun However, we're not going to invite to our bosses' kids.

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

I at first didn't want kids at my wedding either, but my FH convinced me that it would be easier and more polite to have them there. There are only about 6, but it's the teenage boys who hate 'everything' that's not cool that I am most concerned with. They'll be so bored that I feel bad for them!:

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

I have so many kids in my family and they just adore FH and vice versa BUT seeming that the parents don't want them there because they can't have a good time & the reception hall charges half price for them and they don't even eat! so our answer is no!! LOL the youngest people that will be there will be a few teenagers like ages 13-19 but they aren't considered kids. I don't really know if children even have a place @ weddings with all the drinking and stuff that goes on....I wasn't invited to family weddings until I was 11!

I am having quite a few children other than my cousins attending. I am very close to my friends children, and I really want them to be there with us.

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

Luckily we don't have to worry about having kids at our wedding bc none of the people we are inviting have young kids. Only my FH's niece (who will be 10) and my cousin (who will be 9) will be the only 'kids' there.

i will be having 5 children in my wedding party, all nieces and nephews, so they will be at the reception. i don't think it would be the same without them.

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

I also posted a question like this a while ago. We have 3 kids in our bridal party: my stepdaughter (10), my godson (9), and his goddaughter (8). My godson has a sister and 2 brothers! and his goddaughter has a sister and brother. He also has 6 other siblings who have children until 13 - about 10!!! I really want to invite the soblings of our attendants but still am not sure about excluding or including ALL of his other neices and nephews. Still juggling! I definintley want to invite kids - I love kids. I am just not sure of how many is overboard and also how to not insult anyone!!
Did I answer your question?!

Yes invite kids-just decide together on the number!

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

Having a baby myself I am inviting kids. I brought my daughter to two weddings this year and she was a doll (shes only 10 months now). There are plenty of people who will keep an eye on them if parents need a 10 minute break. If she wasnt invited and something happened with a babysitter we would not have gone to the weddings.

I think it should be up to the parents if they want to have their kids there. If they are looking for a night out then they should be able to decide if they want to go alone or if they are having trouble finding a babysitter or just want to be with their kids they should be able to bring them.

I understand about the kids getting rowdie or making a scene but if you have faith in the parents of these kids I dont think there should be a problem.

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

i don't think that it should be up to the parents to decide if they want to bring their children. weddings are expensive and most don't want to incure the cost of children. parents should understand that. families with large amounts of kids (2 or more) really need to make other arrangements. i think it is terrible to place a guilt trip on the bride and groom. also as a parent you should know that you can not guarantee perfect behavior from little ones. i know i don't want screaming kids at my wedding. i know of a bride who's guests not only brought their 2 teens but their kids girlfriends as well!

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

We are inviting children to the wedding b/c we have a lot of close relatives with young children who will be traveling from texas, washington, california, south carolina and washington dc.

Since everyone will be at the wedding they can't leave their kids at home so we would have lost almost all my family so we decided to go with the kids. Surprisingly enough FH's brother and his wife yesterday asked us not to invite the kids so that they could have a good time

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

bride2be - It is my opinion that the children should be invited to the wedding and if the parents decide not to bring them then it is their choice. Yes weddings are expensive and most places give you a break on the cost of kids (hey if I could I would invite 100 kids and pay for them instead of 100 adults at full price ) I think it would be horribly discriminitory to say to a family with 4 kids that their kids cant come but a family with 1 child could bring theirs! And yes, I know you cant guarentee perfect behavior from kids but they are kids and it shouldnt be expected. If a kid gets out of hand its the parents responsibility to make that child understand that behavior isnt welcome and to stop it... and/or leave. Again it comes back to the parents parental decision (knowing how their child is) to bring the child. I guess what it comes down to is a personal choice... you dont want screaming kids at your wedding and thats completly understandable as for me I love kids and I bet on the fact that the kids wont be too bad and if they were I wouldnt let it ruin my day. JMO

As for the bride you talked about that guest was just plain rude to invite the girlfriends if they werent invited... that happens with adults too though.

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

Only close family children will be invited (about 4 plus the 2 flowergirls). If we did all children we'd have at least 40, most of our invitees have young kids....they understand that we're trying to keep the wedding to about 120 people!!!!!!!!:)

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

kptoys,
i agree that it is the bride and grooms choice and i was responding to the fact that shannon326 didn't seem to want any kids there. i still hold to belief that if that's there wish parents should make them feel guilty. i have a daughter and if i recieve a wedding invite unless it is addressed to include family i would respect their wishes and make other arrangements. as for my wedding, immediate family only will be bringing their kids. friends, co-workers distant relatives, no. these other children hold no special place in my life unlike my neices and nephews who do and i want to share the day with. whether u have 1 or 5 if you dont' fit in that category leave ur child at home. parents can be quite funny with their kids and what i think is unacceptable u might think is cute or 'expressing themself' jmo
