Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

We are not inviting children to our wedding. We have set an age limit at 16. There aren't really any liitle ones in our family anyway so this isn't affecting many people!

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

The only kids that will be there are the flower girl, and the ring bearer and his little brother, ( FH nephews and my very good friends daughter) these children are relatives of the family, but that is it, no other kids will be there at the wedding. I do not beleieve that children belong at a wedding. Weddings are for adults- it should not be a free for all , I do understnad if the kids are close to the bride and groom and they behave then that is a different story. I have been to weddings were the kids were as good as gold and also were they ended up taking the spotlight away from the bride and groom and were disruptive, and one little girl wanted to play dress up , and when the couple was out on the dance floor, the baby wondered over to there stuff, she took the pocketbook and the heels and was walking around like that. It really is a personAL decision of the bride and groom. By the way I do love children.

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

We were not suppose to have any little children at our wedding but my FMIL was a pain about not having her two nieces (who next year will be 7 and 11), so I told her that she will be paying for them and that they will be the only two children under 16 there and if they do not behave, we will ask their parents to leave with them.

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

I am having the no kids rule (with a few minor excpetions). There are too many cousins, 2nd cousins, etc to invite all of the kids. I'm not having a flower girl or a ring bearer for that reason. I will be having 2 younger bridesmaids (my goddaughter and my neice) who will be 13 and 15 when my wedding comes along. They are invited as well as 2 cousins on my FH's side that will be 14 and 16 at the time. Most of my family and FHs family has been good about knowing that we don't want their kids there. The funniest is that we have family FRIENDS that expect their kids to be invited. They are going to be in for a rude awakening and I have a feeling this is going to cause problems but like most girls have said, the parents can't have a good time if they're constantly looking out for their kids and you have to pay for them and they hardly eat. I'm staying stern on this one no matter how many scuffles it will cause.

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

NO CHILDREN! (of course, except for the 2 ring bearers and 1 flower girl). The youngest person there besides the wedding party will be FH second cousins, who are 16 years old.

There are way too many children in our two families. I went to a wedding this saturday for FH's cousin. Everyone brought their children. It was a fiasco. During the ceremony, the were screaming, and then during the coctail hour, they were spilling drinks and breaking glasses. I thought it was a bit too much for me! But this is just my opinion, I don't want to offend anyone.

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

No children.. unless they cannot get a babysitter... but they won't be old enough to be running around anyway.

But they will be told that if they start crying during ceremony, they must be taken out!!! I hate that!!!

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

The only children invited to the wedding are the flowergirls(FH nieces) and the ringbearer. Then we have cousins or 2nd cousins that are going to be between the ages of 15-17.

Question: Do we invite them b/c if so we are going way over our budget...the way I see it is that they are kids and who wants to be at a wedding anyway.
Their parents are coming and that's who we're closer to any way.....opinions please. I feel so confused about it.

Re: INVITING CHILDREN TO THE WEDDING?

You know- the more who respond- the more we all see both sides and can see positives and negatives from both inviting and not inviting. We'll never get a unanimous vote

Well what do we do with this?
I think I have the answer: If you have about 5 kids under age 10 to invite - invite them. more than that no matter how close they are to you or who's kids they are is too many...Children 16 or older come in a different catagegory and usually behave -so if they are close-invite them.

This makes sense to me and seeing that I have about 15 kids under 12 to consider - I will limit it to the 2 flower girls and 1 ringbearer and the only possible exception will be there siblings.
