Re: Just wanna let all brides know...it is suffolk county law that if you cancel with a catering hall more than 6 months in advance, you are entitled to receive your entire deposit back, less $100.

If you cancel 6 months prior, whether they re-book or not, they have to give you your money back minus $100. Period. I cancelled a Suffolk Hall and all I did was send them a certified, return receipt requested letter stating that I was cancelling my wedding effective that date. I asked that my check be mailed to me or that they contact me so that I could pick up a refund. They did and my DH went and picked it up. Simple as that. Don't let them bully you, it sounds like you're caring more about their "clause" than the law! Good luck!

ETA: I take back every good thing I ever said about this place...The facility in itself is gorgeous...but IMO the people are pretty sad....Trying to scam a man who is over seas fighting for his county.... PATHETIC!!!! Contact consumer affairs....do homework on your halls before you book...the info is free...and I just wish I wouldve done the same!!!!!!! Thank you Nicole, IRS2005, and anyone else who opened my eyes to the "laws"
