late wedding
Do you think 8pm to 130am is too late for a wedding ceremony and reception on a Friday night?

Re: late wedding
8 PM is a little late to start the ceremony IMO. It's still doable, but I'd want to still be able to take pictures while it's light outside. Are you having the ceremony at the RH and going right into the reception? Our ceremony was at 5:00 PM at the church and CH started at 8:30 PM, ending at 1:30 AM. Everyone stayed til the end and no one was upset that it started late or went late.

Re: late wedding
It's late, but that's what they normally do no Fridays....people work gives them time to get there. I would say you shouldn't do it earlier than 7 - 730 for ceremony.

Re: late wedding
I actually have that timeline, at first I thought it was weird, but come to think of it, most halls just do this to make sure you give enough time for your guests to arrive especially during Friday rush hour and also, if they're doing another event it wont clash (starts and ends at different times).

Re: late wedding
I actually think that is a good time for a Friday, being that some people will have to work on Friday, so it gives them more time to come!

Re: late wedding
I don't think it's too late, that's fairly common for a Friday. We are also getting married on a Friday and our CH begins at 7:30

Re: late wedding
We have the option of 6:30 or 7:30 ceremony start & I keep going back & forth. I agree the later allows guests more time to arrive but I know me & id be starving! People can always snack before they come. My other concern is the older people or out of town guests would leave the reception early bc they dont want to drive that late at night.Decisions decisions..

Re: late wedding
The one complaint I've heard about the late start, is the late dinner. Some people don't like eating after a certain time. BUT, this is your day, so do what makes you happy!!!

Re: late wedding
I think it maybe a little late. 7 or 7:30 is a good time. But on the other hand people will have time to work and go home and get ready. I'm sure whatever you decide will be fine.

Re: late wedding
WM is this way, not flexible at all with that time, and we struggled with the decision for at least a month. For a Friday I'd say it's fine and we asked opinions all over the place and got a mix of 'well the older people will have to leave early' to people saying 'don't worry about it, that's normal, it's a party'.
We decided to do pictures before the ceremony (which the photographer suggested anyway to have more time and be more relaxed and not rushed) so I'm actually excited now about having a first reveal and not being stressed about the ceremony.
So we decided we loved the venue and it will be light out later so it won't feel so late and people will have a good time and not even notice the time
I think like other people said, it is more normal now, I'm finding that a lot of halls are not flexible since you are having the ceremony there. I'm crossing my fingers they know what works! haha

Re: late wedding
My parents are going to a wedding like this in April, personally it is too late for me. I get that they are trying to give people plenty of time to get there but I would be pooped. But it is your day and what you want. Those closest to you will prolly be taking the day off regardless!Welcome New Vendors
