Milleridge Brides and Getting Hair Done
I am getting married on a Sunday Morning at the Milleridge cottage. I just called the hairstylist and she says I should call the Hall to see what time people there come in so I could see if I could get my hair done there rather than at home. So I called. Guests are going to arrive at 11:00 am and she said that the staff gets there at 9:30. So I guess this means I am getting my hair done at home. I am just wondering what other brides did or are doing who are getting married in the morning. Like how they are scheduling things. I just want to make sure I don't run late for anything. Thanks in advance for your advice! Heather

****Try hitting one of the bigger Hallmark stores in one of the malls. I was at one this weekend and they had cake toppers, cake servers, toasting glasses, guest books (didn't see a pillow though)....

It's so funny that you ask this b/c while I am not having my ceremony at Milleridge, I am having the reception there and my church is at 11:00. My photog said I should be ready at 9:30 (thankfully my bridal party is very small)..anyway, I was just today thinking about the logistics. How far do you live from the Milleridge? What time do you want to be there if she is NOT doing your hair there? The obvious solution is her coming to you home as early as possible. Having to be completely decked out for one of the biggest days of my life so early in the morning was not my first choice, it was a compromise. I loved Milleridge but couldnt afford to have the kind of wedding we want at their Sat evening prices so here we are. A large cup of cappucino of everyone and we will be fine :-) What is your wedding date? Mine is 3/17/01. Im meeting with their florist this Sat and going to take some pics of the Milleridge so I can remember it well for the rest of my planning. Good luck

Thanks Elizabet, I am having my wedding on a Sunday for the same exact reason as you :) I am getting my hair done at home. So I live 30 minutes from the Milleridge so I am guessing the girl should come at 7:30 in the morning. Do you think that sounds right? I am also deciding if I should get dressed at the hall or at home. I just dont want to get my dress stuck in the car door. Do you know what you are doing. By the way, my wedding is 9/17/00

Milleridge Brides and Getting Hair Done
Hi there. I'm in the same dilema as Heather, same date & time at the Milleridge, I'm in the Carriage house. I was hoping to get my hair done there but I don't know if that's going to happen if they get there at 9:30 a. We was planning on doing pics before the ceremony. I'm staying at a B&B 10 minutes away, so I think I'll get hair & m/up there and get into the dress at the Milleridge. That way I'm not all wrinkled. Heather, you're having the ceremony there also?

Karen Yeah I am having the ceremony there too. People will arrive at 11. So I guess I will be getting my hair done at home. I live in queens so it is a 25-30 minute ride. I am hoping to just put on my dress there but I dont know if that makes sense. That is good that you are staying somewhere nearby
i am ordering my paper from paper direct. there web site is www.paperdirect.com. they have a nice selection and i found the prices to be very reasonable. -leighann
Limo's are next so I'll post what I find out.

Just think about letting her know that you love her for raising such a wonderful guy.
How about: Thank you from my heart, for raising your little boy into such a wonderful man and for trusting me to love and cherish him as he and I grow old together.

I just got married at the Milleridge Cottage, and I can tell you I had the same dilemma. I stayed at a hotel nearby, so I had my hair and makeup done there. Definitely leave an hour for hair. You don't want to rush. And I put on my dress at the Milleridge. It was the easiest thing, and that way you're not dragging your dress on the floor before you get there. The only thing is you have to repack your dress back into the garment bag because you have to let it hang the night before to avoid wrinkles. But it's worth not worrying about getting your dress dirty or wrinkling it in a car.
Also, my wedding was amazing. Everyone loved the Milleridge, and had wonderful things to say about it. They all thought the food was plentiful and delicious. They also loved the outdoor feel of the Atrium during the ceremony (as did I!) They said the waiters and waitresses were great as well. And no one had to wait very long to get a drink. Good luck.
Any suggestions on how to convince my flower girls to toss petals down the aisle???

Thanks for the advice Jill. Do you have any pictures of the wedding? I am also having my ceremony there :)
I've actually been to Captain Bill's restaurant a few times and my rehearsal dinner will be there. The Bayview house is a separate annex (but part of Captain Bills) where they hold weddings. I'm pretty sure it opened within the past year. From what I've heard and seen it's pretty nice. Hope this helps.
Then again, weddings in NY are a lot more expensive than they are anywhere else.

I haven't gotten my pictures back yet, although I did bring in the table cameras to be processed, so hopefully I'll have those soon. Let me just say that the atrium is gorgeous!! And everyone commented on how beautiful it is. You'll have a great time.
My church wont allow anything tossed at all. We have no problem with that but I thought it was funny.
I addressed all my envelopes (outer with addresses & inner with just the names) on my ink jet printer at home. It really didn't take as long as I thought it would. I typed all the addresses in to a word document with the specific font & size I wanted and then I practiced by cutting sheets of paper the size of my envelope to get the centering just right. You can use the envelope tool in word to customize the size of your envelope & also your centering. Hope this helps!

HELLO I AM GETTING MARRIED THE WEEK AFTER YOU OUR WEDDING IS APRIL 20, 2001. WE ARE HAVING THE 3 STAR MENU. I AM NOT USING THE FLORIST AT THE MILLRIDGE. WE ARE PAYING $125.25 PER PERSON.
Hello all! This is my first message! I see that my future-sister-in-law, Gina is on here a lot so I thought I would try it out. We are currently on a huge band search and we need some advice. We really liked both of these bands but still would like to check some more out.
Any suggestions or any comments about these two. This is turning out to be a very difficult and time consuming task. But at the same time I want to take my time and be sure!! Please help!!!

we are 4-28-01-- Is that a Fri night that you are getting married? is the price the same for Fri and Sat? I thought the 3 star on Sat was $125 without tax and tip-- What florist are you using? are you using the milleridge for the centerpieces? are you changing them? Laura
and now I have my beautiful bouquet in a crystal vase in my living room. Looking for places to put the MOH bouq and one BM bouq.
let me kow if you need any information-happy to help!

IT IS A FRIDAY NIGHT. NO THAT IS THE PRICE INCLUDING EVERYTHING. NO WE ARE NOT USING THEIR CENTERPEICES. I WANT SOMETHING MORE. WE ARE USING A FLORIST IN QUEENS.
All I have to say is the woman at Rabenko is RUDE!!! i called to cancel the appt. and she was giving me the third degree why i didn't want to reschedule. And she was very rude about it. And if she thinks I'd call back after the treatment i received, shes mistaken. She just made my decision easier to make.

We are changing the centerpieces but I am hesitant to go with an entirely different florist because the money that is already spent on the centerpieces goes to waste-- I know they say that they put them in the cocktail hour but we are having 20-25 tables--how can they put that many in the cocktail hour? are you having tables in your cocktail hour? we want them but I have heard people say they were at the cottage and there were no tables? Laura
