Need Advice re. guest list

I'm a total stress case. My parents have made it clear they're willing to pay for a wedding of about 200-210 max. The problem is, my fiance's guest list is HUGE. He's inviting alone 104 people. He has been telling me for awhile now not to worry, that his mom will be inviting about 20 people max, so at the end of the day the numbers should all work out. So today his mother gives us her list - she's invited 51 people!!! I nearly had a heart attack. If my FH hadn't been setting me up to believe she was inviting a small list, I wouldn't of been as upset. MY FH has agreed to pay for the number of people that exceed 210, if need be. Fair enough. I now want to invite more people to the brunch and rehearsal dinner 1) to be spiteful and 2) to show him what it feels like to have guest list agita. I HATE PLANNING THIS WEDDING!!!

I should add his parents are paying for brunch and rehearsal and we are now inviting a total of 250 guests instead of my ideal 230.

It's nice that your FH will pay the difference. It doesn't sound like he did this on purpose - I would'nt go the revenge route, although it's understandable you are upset!

I am so upset - my mom feels 'put upon' that his mom can just assume she can invite whomever she wants. My parents have people they want to invite that they couldn't to accomodate my FH and his mom's list!

Not only that - his mother should at least CALL my mom to ask her what SHE thinks, what the room can hold, ANYTHING! Now my mom is PISSED and calling his mom. FUN FUN!
