need ideas for a 60th b-day gift

i have a 60th b-day party coming up.
what should i give?
money? or a gift? if a gift what?

Do they like to read - give them a gift certificate to a book store.
Or if they have a favorite restaurant - give them a gift certificate for there.

I would get them a gift certificate to a really nice place to eat.

I like making 'night-in' baskets. I get a basket from Pier 1 or World Market and fill it with a DVD or book & popcorn, wine & cheese, chips & dip, etc depending on the person's personality.

This was the most common gift for my grandpa's retirement party a couple years ago....let me tell you, he STILL has those gift certificates laying around the house b/c he's such a picky eater and was not fond of the places he rec'd certificates to.

How about an AMEX gift cheque?
