Need your advice on my guest list...

Please help me with this major source of stress. My hall maxes at 140 people. My father recently informed me that I left out 16 people, but that would put me at 171 people. My question is, have any of you had a similar situation and did it work out ok? Also, have any of you used the A list and B list method? Did that work? I am so happy that I have this resource to ask experienced brides for help! Thanx, guys.

Invite the people that you need to invite first, and as the no's come in, send out more invites. We have had a few friends of ours do that, and it has worked out fine for them.

Re: Need your advice on my guest list...

I tried to do the 'B-list' thing but it didn't work out for me. After about 3 weeks, we barely had any responses in and none of them were 'no's'. We ended up sending out the 'B-List' peoples invites anyway. They all said yes but we ended up having enough 'no's ' so that we didn't max out. I think most people who can't attend wait until the last minute to send back their replies - Maybe to see if somehow they can make it. If it makes you feel any better, we invited 199 (when our hall max was 150) and only 147 responded 'yes' - Of course 10 of them didn't show up. It is definitely true that the people you expect to say yes, say no and the people you expect to say no, say yes.
Good luck!
