Old Navy Sizing Rant

I went shopping the other day because I needed some spring things. I got two pairs of pants and a pair of capris, all in the same size. I didn't try anything on because I know my size in Old Navy.

I wore the pants yesterday and they are a little big. Then today, I put on the capris and they are so SNUG and uncomfortable. Granted, I should have tried them on, but wouldn't you think that a size is a size is a size?

Re: Old Navy Sizing Rant

I've run into that problem with old navy clothes all the time. It really is annoying and they should change that, but for now I always try them on before I buy.

Re: Old Navy Sizing Rant

Same thing always happens to me there. Recently bought two pairs of khakis... one doesn't fit. Probably sell on ebay. I have two other pairs of 'same pants' and one of each is tighter than the other.

Also their sizing has gotten smaller. I'm starting to hate them.

Re: Old Navy Sizing Rant

nah. 5 year olds probably make those clothes, you cant expect them to be perfect can ya?!

someimtes it depends on the fabric and design, but for the most part if youre a 6 in their pants i would assume youd be a 6 in most of their pants as well.

sometimes thins are mismarked

Re: Old Navy Sizing Rant

I find this issue with pants everywhere. Cuts are different from style to style. I can never buy pants without trying them on first.

Re: Old Navy Sizing Rant

I used to work in retail and the reasoning behind this is because of the cut and type of material. The machines cut massive amounts of material at once - the material shifts and the ones on top are smaller than the ones on bottom. It's better to always try clothes on and severals pairs of the same size. You will see a difference.

Okay...class over.

Re: Old Navy Sizing Rant

I just got some maternity clothes from online...thankfully it was only a tank top and another shirt..the tank is a bit big but I will definetly grow into it. I have to drive over to the Old Navy in BayShore because they are the closest one that has a maternity department. I have to try everything on even when I'm not pregnant.

Re: Old Navy Sizing Rant

They are the worst with their pants. For years now I've resigned myself to the fact that their pants do not fit me, not matter what size. Then I had time the other day and tried on some work type pants and they fit great. Sure enough I couldn't find any in that size on the floor. they were all out. Figures, now they'll probably never have that style again! Ugh. Much better luck with Banana Republic. Same company, but what a differenc.e. For pants I stick with NY&Co. because I know they fit.
