Question about another bride getting married at my church before me - Update - funny

When I called the rectory last month about getting my rehursal time, I metioned that I wanted to know if the girl getting married before me that day was going to have altar flowers and what I was going to say to the receptionist at the rectory was if she could find out if this girl would mind me calling her to see if maybe she and I could split the price of the flowers and share them. Well the lady just gave me this girl's number.

I actually have no problem calling, but my friend told me that some brides get a bit out of joint if they know that someone else is getting married on 'their day' and that this girl might also be upset that the rectory gave her number out.

I didn't really want the # just like that, the lady just gave it to me. I thought maybe the rectory could call her and say 'this girl wants to know....would it be OK if we give her your #?'

So should I bother calling or just order my own flowers? I'd rather split it and I'll even say whatever color she wants is fine with me since she's getting married first that day. She migth want to take them with her too, who knows.

Do you think I should call? Do you think she'd be offended? I don't want to cause any weirdness.

***OK so I called and left a message. I kinda sound like a complete moron on the message but I HATE HATE HATE leaving voicemail, I always sounds like a bumbling idiot.

However, I looked at the girl's name again - I think I went to grammar school with this girl! The church and grammar school are connected so it's not that big a coincidence but still, it's funny and funnier that I didn't realize it until now.

if it was me,,,I would love if someone called me saying they want to split the cost!!!

what can it hurt calling, the church was in the wronge for giving out the number, though. And she can take it up with them if she has a problem. But I would be happy

Maybe you should call the rectory and say just what you said and ask if they could just make the initial call for you. I think anyone would understand your reasoning (which is valid).

I'm the first bride of the day (the only one as of now) at my church and I wouldn't mind one bit if someone called and offered to split the cost of flowers as long as we had similiar taste and ideas. We could get nicer arrangements at half the cost, I'd be game!

The bride after me actualy did call me...I offered her to use my pew bows & flowers. She was happy!

I didn't care for the fact they gave out my home # but all in all sh was sweet

Jenn I would be upset too since my number is private for a reason and no one has the right to just give it out. I actually wanted the Church to call her and ask her if I could call but the receptionist just gave me the number just like that. And you know I could have been anyone calling - she needs to be more careful about giving out numbers.

I didn't even think about pew bows. I don't mind sharing the cost of all this stuff. I hope she and I will have the same color theme though - that would be cool.

I probably would be a little upset that the Church just gave out my number and didn't call me first. But all in all I would love to split my flower costs and think it was great you called!!!
