QUESTION about wedding day jewlery.. please help!

My mom just told me that she is ordering a necklace for me for the wedding day... I know it sounds nice and everything but I have NO IDEA how this thing looks... what if I dont like it?

And to make it worse its not even like if I dont love it I could just not wear it and get something else becasue she keeps stressing how much $$ it is (She said thousands!!) WHAT?!? so its like I have to wear it.

My question for you ladies is... the day of did you too go all out and get real diamond jewlery etc, or did you just get very sparkly look alikes?

I always thought I would just get stuff thats reasonably priced (fake) for the day of.

My MOH let me borrow her diamond necklace, but if i didn't have that, i probably would have bought something fake. I'm sure your mom picked out something beautiful for you, but if you really aren't crazy about it, i would try to explain that to her.

i would ask your mother to let you see the piece. explain that you are specific about the type of jewelery you wear on your wedding day and would like some input.

my mother went out and bought me pearl drop earrings as a surprise. i dont comepletely love them (i didnt even want pearls) but now i have to wear them because i know it means so much to her.

im wearing costume jewelry - i didnt want to spend $ on something im going to only wear once....the bracelet and earrings i got have a vintage feel to them - and i think that they look real - i didnt want anything that looked fake - but didnt want to spend a ton on the real thing either - id ask to see it - especially because its so expensive....

I'm wearing costume jewelry. Of course I wanted the real thing but...I couldn't justify the expense for one day.
I would talk to your mom and say how nice it is that she's doing that but that you would really like to see the jewelry because you have something specific in mind for your special day (have pics available in case she wants to know what you have in mind!!!)

My boss lent me a beautiful antique looking necklace but it is not real- at least to my knowledge and i bought some costume earrings from macys to go with it.

thanks ladies... The thing is she's having it like custom made so I cant even ask to see it... she just descbibed it to me. We'll see what happens though
