Question (kinda silly)
Ladies, I need your help with some edquitte (spelling). When you look at reception halls and are going to check out packages and how the place looks, etc. If you really like the place, Can you ask them to hold your date and that you have to get back to them with your answer because you still have another appt. somewhere else? or Do I just say I have to go home and talk to my FH about this (he is not going on the tour of reception halls with me-says he will love anything I pick)
I feel like the latter of the two is better, but if you say you are going somewhere else, may you can get them to neg. better??
I don't want to cause a problem, esp. with a place I like, but I want to make sure I see what is out there too.
Thanks for any advice!!

Re: Question (kinda silly)
When I looked at the Swan Club with my FH we told them we had to talk it over with mom and dad since they were paying. We went back for a food tasting ( I refused to book anywhere unless I tasted the food) Then They put a 48 hour hold on it.

Re: Question (kinda silly)
It never hurts to ask! For the most part, I would tell the sites that I had to go home and talk it over with FH also. Conveniently, it just so happened that the ONLY site FH went to visit with me was the one we booked.... hmmmmm....?
But I also booked the last site I saw. Usually that's what happens I think. When you find a place you love and the price is right, you end up booking on the spot. With the other ones, I kind of knew I wasn't going home to discuss it, I kind of already knew this wasn't the place for me. When I found my site, I just knew it was the one.

Re: Question (kinda silly)
Ask them to put it on a temporary hold for a day or 2.

Re: Question (kinda silly)
Huntington Townhouse took a $20 refundable deposit to hold the date for us for 2 weeks. It was one of the first places we saw. We both pretty much knew that we wanted to book, but there were a few sites we wanted to see just for the sake of saying we had seen them. You know how it is... you hear so much about a place that you have to see it for yourself so you don't regret it. Needless to say that in 2 days we were back at the Townhouse singing a contract and giving the rest of the 'real' deposit (which was no longer refundable from that point). You could ask a place if they could do something like that. Hey, even if you lose $20, knowing that they will give you that chance could be worth it.

Re: Question (kinda silly)
When we booked our hall, I first went without Dale and they said they would hold the hall for me for 24 hours with no money. They also wanted him to come back and to look at the place. I don't know how other places work. I can only speak for what they did for me.

Re: Question (kinda silly)
When we went to look at Halls all would hold the date. Some for 48 hrs and some for 3 days. The one for 3 days calls you at the end and will extend the hold if you need more time. I think this is a great thing. Sometimes it's hard to make a decision right away. Except once we saw Flowerfield we did book it right away. I knew it was the right place as soon as we walked in!! Good Luck!!PS We didn't even have to ask them to hold it, they asked us before we could even say anything!
