Re: Wedding Bands -Vent and Advice needed (POLL)

Girls, I need some advice. My darling FH got me a Tacori e-ring which I ADORE. It is VERY hard to find a wedding band that goes well that is NOT Tacori. The two rings that go well with my ring are over $2,000!!!! I am SO upset because I really did not want my wedding band to be so pricey, but nothing matches NEARLY as well. This band is $2,000+ .40 (not eternity)
(The e-ring in the pic is the one I have)

This one is 3,000+ .75 carat eternity band

FH is saying 'I want you to have whatever you want' which is so sweet, but there are so many other things we can do with that xtra $$ as opposed to splurging on a wedding band like that!!!

What would you all do?

The wedding will be over before you know it, the ring will last (hopefully) forever.....

Just food for thought.

Re: Re: Wedding Bands -Vent and Advice needed (POLL)

I say get which ever Tacori band that you like better. They may be more $$, but you'll wear it every day, so I think it's worth it.

Re: Re: Wedding Bands -Vent and Advice needed (POLL)

I got a $100 band. (It was by Movado and orignally $500, but it was discontinued. Fi and I were able to get a matching set.)

But, since it's so different from my e-ring, I will be wearing one or the other, definitely not both.

For me, if I were going to spend any more than a couple hundred dollars on a ring, I'd rather put it toward upgrading my stone.

Re: Re: Wedding Bands -Vent and Advice needed (POLL)

I say that you go down to the Bowery od the diamond distict. There may be some 'tacori' look alikes w/o thier name on it. I am sure you will be able to find something down there for less. Good luck
ETA : If you don't find anything you can always go back to the expensive one, I would SO be @ the Bowery.
BTW they are beautiful rings!

Re: Re: Wedding Bands -Vent and Advice needed (POLL)

I agree with nov.bride. Look around in the city, and then if you can't find one that fits, get the Tacori one that you like. How about finding someone to make it? I don't know if that is even more money.

Re: Re: Wedding Bands -Vent and Advice needed (POLL)

My FI's jeweler on 47th St. EXACTLY reproduced a Jeff Cooper engagement ring -- it is exactly the same as the setting I picked and allowed FI to get a much larger stone with the $$ he saved!!

So I agree, you should be able to find a jeweler who can reproduce the ring....

Re: Re: Wedding Bands -Vent and Advice needed (POLL)

You should do what makes you happy. $2000 ring is ok but $3000 may be too much. I do wonder though if anyone makes a ring that is a really good knockoff of Tacori. I wish I knew the answer to that.

Re: Re: Wedding Bands -Vent and Advice needed (POLL)

My e-ring is pave, and beautiful if I do say so myself, and I wanted to get 2 wedding bands. One that matches my e-ring and another one that matches whatever FH wants (he wants something evry simple). The bands that I like for myself are expensive so we decided to just get the matching bands and then I will get another band for our 1 year anniversary.

Re: Re: Wedding Bands -Vent and Advice needed (POLL)

The bottom line is do you have 2000+ dollars for the ring. If you have to go into debt to have it, I personally do not think it is worth it now, get a plain band and save up for a new one for an anniversary. However, if you do have the money, and the expenditure of 2k won't be missed, then go for the one you really want.

Re: Re: Wedding Bands -Vent and Advice needed (POLL)

Im in the same boat as you. My ring was made to fit flush with the matching band. That's the main reason why I chose it. Now I come to find out that the eternity band is well over $2k, if not more. The rumor is the price of platinum has nearly doubled. I figured its the ring I chose, and I never want to replace it. This will be the ring you wear the rest of your life, so go ahead and buy it. Later on down the line, you'll be glad you did.

Re: Re: Wedding Bands -Vent and Advice needed (POLL)

I would see if you could get it reproduced, usually custom made rings are less expensive, it's strange but true..I always assumed it would be the opposite, but when we recently went to look at wedding bands, we asked the jeweler who FH bought my e-ring from and he said it was true. Because there is no middle man, usually it's just the jewelers fee and the cost of materials.
