Small Wedding Brides

For all of you who are having 'small' weddings:

How many people are invited?
Where is your reception?
How low was their minimum guarantee?

Re: Small Wedding Brides

I had a small wedding, in Long Island terms. We invited just over 100 people, and there were about 85 people at the wedding. I had mine at the Southampton Inn - no minimum.

Re: Small Wedding Brides

My BIL is having a small wedding in June. They're having it at Snuff Mill at the Botanical Gardens. I don't know what they had to guarantee, but I believe the space can only hold a MAX of 110.

I guess we're also 'small' although it feels huge to me!
We invited 142 and guaranteed 100...hoping for 120.
Reception is at Jericho Terrace - Oak Room.

Re: Small Wedding Brides

I am having a small wedding - No. of guests will be under 50 people....we are having our reception in a restaurant that are willing to close for the evening because its a thursday in April.
Some reception halls that you are not considering due to them catering more towad larger weddings may have smaller reception rooms that you dont know about, so its worth callling around. good Luck!
Sorry...meant to say their minimum started at 55 and I bet them down to 45 Be persistent on this issue as if my FI had been planning this we would be paying for 55 - no negotiating skills..

Re: Small Wedding Brides

I had a small wedding , only 95 guests was the final headcount.

Since we had a short engagement and we booked our hall on the 'late side' (meaning only 7 months before our wedding date) they were looking to fill the date, and we only had to guarantee 85 people.

I got married at the Thatched Cottage also - highly recommend it

Re: Small Wedding Brides

We're having around 50-60 at our wedding.

there are PLENTY of places you can have the recption at. You should buy one of those Long Island or NY wedding location magazines from Borders. Unbelievably helpful!!

The ones I've seen list pages and pages of locations (I'd consider either Nassau or Suffolk) but they don't include the minimum guarantees. Any specific ones you've seen that list this - or do I have to call each place?

I’m not home and I don’t have the 3 magazines I bought with me… but, they all specifically mention wedding locations in the tri state area, NY area and then there was a thin one for LI only. All 3 cover Nassau & Suffolk. I initially bought them for hall pricing but I started making phone calls and that’s when I discovered just how many options there are! Believe me, halls are not eager to turn away any kind of business. The only one’s that probably will turn you away is “1 wedding at a time” halls.

Re: Small Wedding Brides

Try these sites, they should have minimums...and most places have small rooms, so a small guarantee should not be a problem...you just have to take the small room.

Re: Small Wedding Brides

For my room at the Swan Club I had to guarantee 100. Of the other places I looked at, I think Sans Souci and Stewart Manor Country Club had a guarantee of 100 and the Carriage House at the Milleridge was lower - 75 maybe?
