Ughhhh! I have had it with my mom!

Need to vent sorry. I went to the florist last night to pick out the flowers. Jill form Burtons was so helpful. I wanted to do something different color wise. I had some pics of red with pinks and lavenders calla lilies,roses,liliacs etc.. She said that the flowers will look great together a lot of texture and the colors are great. Jill had given me some black majic roses and lavender roses to take home.
When I got home I put them in a vase and I was in such a good mood. My mom comes home looks at them,turns her nose up at the flowers and says 'those are not spring colors! ' I said there really aren't spring/fall/winter rules anymore. If colors/flowers look nice together than thats that. She then says I don't care what they are they look too dark . I then said 'you know what you really don't ever have anything positive to say about anything that I ever do so can't you just say something nice for a change!' She than said ' I don't lie if I don't like something I say it. I don't care what you do with your stupid flowers,or anything in your wedding and if you keep up the attitude than don't expect me at your wedding' So I said 'then don't come if you don't care.' Now shes not even speaking to me. Shes just pissed that I pretty much have planned everything and that I don't like any of her ideas. She is a 68 year old woman who acts like a 10 year old when she dosen't get her way. It just really sucks that she is so stuck in the 70's she thinks that everything has to be a certian way. It also sucks that my whole family has no clue about weddings.I pretty much would have no clue if it weren't for you girls on here. Sorry so long just have had enough of my moms evilness. Its just that if it were any of my other sisters she would have said oh I love your flowers. etc. ahhhhhhhh!! I have had it!

I know what you mean. My family is old school Caribbean and have no clue about wedding either. Don't worry it will be fine, she just needs time to come around.

i was just engaged in december and i think i've told my mom not to come more times than the days i've been engaged..i'm not up to where you are yet with the plans but i'm sure whatever i pick she won't like

Is your mom's name Alida? LOL....otherwise, I think MY mom has a twin!
Don't worry...she'll calm down. Just don't say anything and let her cool off. Some moms will NEVER admit when they have been wrong. If your mom is like mine, she'll ignore you for a couple days then go out and buy you a wedding magazine and leave it on your desk like nothing happened....

she did just that except last night i had a wedding journal left on my bed..maybe they are twins..how funny is that..

wow- i'm sorry its so tough. I think a lot of it is speartion anxiety. My freidsn went through the smae thing, and her mom was fide that week.

It is difficult when they haven't been to weddings before. My mom & haven't really had conflicts , but you can tell teh age gap with soem stuff.

My mom was shocked that I'd consider any dress without sleeves, but then she came shopping with me &saw that there are more without than with, and we didn't like any of the ones with sleeves that I tried & luckily she loves the dress I picked.

She was also against an uneven Bridal party, but so was FH, so I lost that one.

She's also all about non-edible favors. Which is funny to me, b/c favors aren't as big as they used to be, but I don't care either way, so I'll do them.

Oh my god. My family is the same way. They've the exact same thin to me.
I feel better now, I thought I was the only one who had to hear all this negative stuff from their family.

luckily, to date, my mom and i have been on the same page with pretty much everything wedding related. historically we have had our share of world wars, so this actually surprises me beyond belief...

i have to be nice to her, she is making my dress

I'm with September2004. My mom has been great through this whole planning process- everytime I ask her opinion about something she tells me it's our wedding and we should do what we want- she's very supportive and wonderful!!!

I can totally relate. My mom has more negative things to say then positive. I can only hope the fighting is over by the wedding!

omg do we have the same mom? i swear if my mom tell me no one more time i am gonna scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have a bride book that had an article called mom's behaving badly... when my fh and moh read this they asked me if i had the write it!!!!!!!!

My mom didnt even want me to have a long engagement. She just wanted me to get hitched, so that I could give her grandkids!!!! (shes the only one from her siblings that doesnt have one, grandchild that is).
Oh and forget about it, if she has a fight with my brother. The whole house is screwed! Everything is my fault, and I do everything wrong. Thank God for my dad. He just tells me shhh, and let her talk but its so hard.

My mom is the same way.. and my sister... and my FMIL.. and my BMs are never arround... If I didnt have you girls to actually say nice things about stuff I would go nuts!! Why cant they just be happy for us let us have our day and relax a little!!!!

U know why? Cause they think there planning their wedding(moms) and friends/bms dont see the importance. Wait till there day comes. Thats my conclusion

I think thats exactly it!!!!! I think my sis is a little jealous b/c she was planning the whole big wedding.. got pregnant.. and ran to vegas for a small intimate wedding. My mom probably regrets what she did... FMIL want me to do what she did, and my other bms definitly dont understand yet.. they cant even keep a boyfriend of gods sake

My mom and dad are somewhat the same way. NOt only that, they are used to TX type weddings. (they live in TX). Although, I would of loved my mom to be included with the wedding planning, I pretty much did it all on my own without my mom and future mother in law's input. I love it that way...especially because I am somewhat a control freak.
