wedding dresses
Thanks for all of the great ideas. I actually was looking at the more expensive style dresses which si why my friend said to look into renting one since I could not see spending so much for one night. Supposedly, a dress that typically sells for around $15,000 would rent for around $2000. To me that sounds great. I am not sure if this really exists though because as i said I heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend. You know how that goes??? Renting is just an idea. I will probably still wind up buying one but I want to explore all my options. Any other less known dress stores to buy in addition to renting would also be appreciated. Thanks again for lal the great advice!

The Bridal Garden in NYC sells sample's at a greatly reduced price and some of the proceeds go to charities. If this interests you let me know and I'll get the number. Faith

The Gown Company (Long)
I looked at some dresses there. I tried on a few Vera Wang and Angel Sanchez that were 75% off retail. The dresses are not used, are 100% authentic and are samples (thus the low price). You must pay for the dress and take it home the same day. You are also responsible for alterations. I, for example, tried on a Vera Wang that retailed for over $6000. They were selling the sample for $1900. The gowns are in great condition but as they are samples, they have been tried on before (some numerous times) and have also been worn for bridal fashion shows. I really wanted to buy one of her dresses but couldn`t find one in my size (I needed a 2 or 4) and, since I live in NYC, didn`t have the room to store it in my apartment. If you`re interested, the Gown Company is located at 326 E. 9th Street, NYC. Telephone 212-979-9000. You can speak to Paula -- she is very nice and very patient :-).

The Gown Company (Long) Another Note
Being samples and showroom gowns they are sample sizes. I think mostly sizes 6 & 8.
