Level 1 is the 'run 'o the mill' sono. Level 2 is when an anatomy scan (checking limbs, spine, heart, etc.) of the fetus is done @ approx 20 weeks... Level 2 takes anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour - depending on how cooperative the little one is!

got cha. Do LI hospitals usually do level 1 or 2 sonos or is level 2 they save for when something was wrong with level 1?

They're both standard. I had at least 10 level 1's and the level 2 at almost 21 weeks.

Just so you know- I have had both and my level 1 was fine. Level 2 is to make sure your baby's organs are okay and all forming correctly. You get both done.

Interesting... I went to Southampton Hospital at 20 weeks and had a sono, I dont know which level it was. We saw the orgins and limbs and such

I had another at 32 weeks but I think it was the same level.
