Back from AC
I feel kinda furious with DH.I really felt DH should have let me have my way - the hotel was GHETTO - no wait, saying it was ghetto would be an insult to the word Ghetto.
His reason for choosing Ballys was because it was on the boardwalk and thought I might want to 'walk around'.
I didn't really want to walk around, but we ended up walking to the Tropicana and ate at there buffet. Maybe it's just my tastes these days, but I thought it totally blew. (and let me just add, that DH made me put 2 jelly donuts in my purse, so he can have them later in the room).
We walked, and I got tired real fast. So fast I wasted an hour in bed because my nausea kicked in full force.
It subsided so I went to play slots. I was up by $130, and blew $50 trying to win more. So I went looking for DH (of course, in the poker room). We go back up to our room for the night around midnight. First off, DH gets a double bed room...? the beds are kinda small, full-size. He puts the a/c on, and it's making noise, it was so loud I couldn't fall asleep. I made him get up and turn it off.
This morning we got up around 8 so I said 'let's go to the pool', because DH called the night before and asked for the hours, telling him 7am-9pm. WRONG. We go down there and it doesn't open til 10. DH swears up and down that's what he heard.
I was so annoyed and I was ready to actually blow my cool with him - I felt that my time there wasn't that great, and I feel like whenever I make suggestions, BASED ON WHAT OTHER PEOPLE TELL ME, he shoots them down. Every time this happens, I swear, he's wrong, and he acts so stupid when I call him out on it. So, I go back to gamble for a little bit until we had to check out. I take my shot on blackjack. I ended up winning $230. I was on such a roll until DH comes to the table I'm at. I loose about $100 more, while DH loses his $100 he won from poker the night before, leaving us with $130 total winnings, which we figure out it paid for our entire trip, so we call that breaking even.
DH promises next time, we'll go to Harrah's. I had NO DESIRE to walk the boardwalk really, and I felt that if we stayed at Harrah's, we would have never had to go anywhere, and since we had to check out by noon, we could have drove to the boardwalk if I had changed my mind.
I'm planning the small vacations from now on. I sound a little ungrateful, I know, but really, it was MY birthday and if I wanted to stay somewhere specific, it should have just happened (the funny thing is when I looked up the prices they were exactly the same, so I don't want to hear from him it was a money issue). I don't ask for much from him since he's totally OK with me being unemployed, but come on - I didn't want anything else, why couldn't it just be done my way?

Re: Back from AC
I am sorry you didnt have a good time. I used go to Ballys often (but not in about 3 years though) and I never though it was ghetto. But the reason I did go there was the poker machines were looser there. I always walked out winning. In what part of the building was your room in? I always ask for rooms in the tower part. Its more updated than the rest of the hotel.ETA: I also dont go for the pool- I did hear that the pool was nicer at Harrahs but never been there
At least you broke even.

Re: Back from AC
while i think harrahs is one of the better casinos, i dont think its the only place to have a good time. actually, when we go to AC we usually stay at non-casino places just to save a few bucks (that we spend in AC on drinks/food/gambling anyway).sorry you didnt have a great time, but glad you made some $$
