Changing Name

Hey everyone...Happy New Year! Well, I've been married for a month and a half now, and I am dying to change my name. I run to the mailbox everyday to check for my marraige license, but its still not here. How long does it usually take? What is the easiest way to do this? Thanks!
You can email me if you want.. fnrldrectr@aol

Hmmm...my legal marriage certificate was in my mailbox by the time I got home from my honeymoon (which was only a week long).

If I remember correctly, your officiant is required to mail it in within 5-7 days of the ceremony. Make sure it was mailed. If it was, then call the Clerk's office for a status.

When the License was issued to you initially, it should have had a reference number on it. At least ours did - it was issued in Queens County. If you don't have the reference number, I'm sure they could look it up for you with just your names.

Mine took about one month

They can actually put 180 in that room, but I wouldn't. I have 114 people and there was so much room. You should be fine, but I would stop at 160. It might get very tight in there after that. Good Luck. I'm going to a wedding next weekend in the back Estate building. I'm excited.

Changing Name

Hi Ours took 6 weeks. I was getting nervous. Once I got it the first thing I did was go to Soc Sec. and have my name changed there. Then all my credit cards and this week I battle the DMV. It is alot of work. I have to change my name on our mortgage, my car insurance/title, our homeonwers insurance, the deed to the house, the doctors office. Good Luck.
